As fans, especially Cowboys fans, we need to focus more on this week's game and I think this thread will be the perfect place to do that.
Cards Offense vs. Cowboys Defense
The one major problem the Cards can and maybe will give the Cowboys defense is through their passing game. Leinart has shown glimpses of what lies ahead for Cards fans. Good accuracy and touch. Some have questioned his arm strength but from what I've seen it'll get the job done. That WR tandem is tops in the league as far as I'm concerned. Bolden is one tough hombre to bring down and has excellent hands and deceptive speed. Fitzgerald uses more finess and his pure God-given talents to consistently beat coverage.
Let's not forget Edge James. The same offensive line that is getting Leinart killed is causing James to be bottled up in the running game. However, James is a very good running back and an excellent receiver out of the backfield. I'd like to think the Boys' run D can take advantage of the Cards below average OL.
Now, correct me if I'm wrong, the Cowboys blitzed Roy several times against Cade McCown last season. Will the Cowboys do the same this year against Leinart with Edge coming out of the backfield while also exposing our weak deep coverage unit?
Cowboys Offense vs. Cards Defense
Antrell Rolle has been disappointing so far in his young career. From what I've read from Cards fans, he's still a little too aggressive and gets called for penalties on a regular basis. On the other hand, Adrian Wilson, perhaps the most underrated safety in the league, anchors the Cards secondary. I'd like to see Witten force Wilson to match up with him one-on-one thus leaving either Terry or T.O. in single coverage on the outside.
All this doesn't mean Tony Romo will be able to sit back and have lunch in the pocket. Dansby and Okeafor make a living on getting after the quarterback. Keep in mind, this is the same defensive line and backfield that gave the Bears fits (although how strong does that Bears O look now?).
Summary
I think this is a game where the Cowboys try to double the Cards' TOP by running the ball down their throats with JJ and MBIII. I don't expect tons of scoring here. I believe the Cowboys win 20-10.
I'd like to read your thoughts as well...
