After closing on my new home, I am going to change all the locks on my house.

For the Garage Door, I am assuming the Seller will give me all the Garage Door Openers at closing. How do I ensure that there are no other Garage Door Openers that can open my Garage Door? Would I have to replace the Garage Door itself or is there some cheaper way to ensure this?

Change the codes on the unit and the remotes.

CF, pardon my ignorance but don't Garage Door Openers just have a button that you push to open the door? I haven't lived in a house since I graduated from college in 2001, so I have no idea how they work these days.

Yes they have generally have one button but he is talking about the frequency that the remote uses to talk with the unit when he says codes. Typically they support one then one so if you change it you can be more sure it was duplicated.

It's been a long time, but I believe you program it with the unit in the garage. It should have a numeric pad. Than hold the remote button down til the code is transfered.

We either need an "Advise" forum, or just a flat out "Give Maikeru-sama Advise" forum. :laugh2:

Be sure to test it you don't want to have it set to the same frequency as your neighbors. :laugh2:

mick, what did I tell you about starting these attention-whoring, "oh, I'm so great, I bought a house" threads?

Pop the hood on your remote, if it's old school it will have some tiny little sticks. Just change the pattern and match it on the unit. Or call the number on the bottom of the ad below. Garagedoorheaven.com:laugh2:
