Garbage stats

while im not a true believer in "Garbage stats" because they all technically count and happens a lot to all QBs. however, theres truth in all the above as you mentioned..

the way i see players who as team go down 2-3 scores stop scoring for nearly two full QTRS, and all of a sudden the defense loosens up, subs start playing on defense about 5mins into the 4th and your offense starts to make that comeback but fail..

well the old saying the final score was NOT a valid interpretation of how bad the loss was, thats garbage stats..

if someone did not watch the game and went and checked the stats and final score they would think oh well good try..

actually it was not.so yes even pollard or zekes mop up duty late in games you were losing by a lot break off a 50yardser right at the end to score and make the game 10 point loss vs 17 well those era technically garbage stats..however a RB rarely gets those because when you go down 2-3 scores you stop running and just throw's 20 straight times before trying a delayed draw here and there.

So QBs and yes WRs/Tes are the beneficiary stat wise of constantly playing catchup..

this happens a lot the last 2 seasons with Dak the "At a boys" end somewhere when you get 60% of your stats trying to make comeback after disappearing for 2 quarters..thats my perspective, Ive seen that show far too many times , the offense stops scoring or even moving the ball , ie completely shut down by the defenses they are playing, typically the higher ranked one in the league, and then they try real hard but never really finish..that a lot of the big stats that makes dak appear to be a top 5 yardage wise but really a lot of window dressing..Not saying he suks but that what fans are referring to when they say slow down on daks greatness ie deserving of 38-40mil..

they blame the defense for the big deficits of late and say well what choice does Dak and the offense have but they arent seeing all the games where the offense simply stops moving the ball and scoring..also a lot of the deficits started with offensive TOs this year and dak had his share that got the team in hole and making our porous defense defend short fields far to often early in games..

its fine line but there some truth to the garbage stat narrative..

Dak is better now than when he won rookie of the year and won 13 games. He just has a worse overall team now. And get used to him being the Cowboys QB.

Yes they are all garbage stats. The team doesn’t win. Great stats come from actually winning games! That’s the name of it and this team doesn’t do it.

I see your point and if you want to classify every losses stats as garbage stats, but thats a black and white point of view. My problem with that is this:

Example: A defense gets 6 sacks 2 picks and recovers a forced fumble in the game. They team loses the game 9 to 6. No one would say the defense put up garbage stats.

It has to work both ways. Also look at the fact 80% of the time that the cowboys get behind its not Dak that is problem. The cowboys only turn him loose once he is behind.
Maybe....Just maybe if you turn him loose before you are down then you are not in this situation. Also it you think about it, 90% of the time the cowboys drives stall its caused by someone else. The culprits are usually 1. PlayCalling 2. Someone elses turnover 3. False Start or Holding .....Last year add in Missed FGs. If we won 3 more games last year....Which we could and should have....This would not be a discussion. Are those could haves and should haves Daks fault.

Then ask yourself this: Would Maholmes, Aaron Rogers, Tom Brady Drew Brees win games with the Defense we put on the field this year?

Sundays game vs the Vikes is a really good measuring stick Jazz.
Im harsh on this team as many are but Im also cautiously optimistic.
If this current defense can keep the Vikes below 30 points than Im paying attention.
If this current defense can keep the Vikes below 20 points than Im really liking what he have as a foundation going forward with some 1st year contracts on D.
I like some of the rooks, Gallimore, Diggs.. Im in defense evaluation mode, because we dont have the fire on offense to win tomorrow,, this team needs to show a point of origin.
How do we build going forward.
Games like this is the blue print to executing correctly when drafting 2021,, so show me....
