I was listening to the Garrett press conference, and one thing he said stood out to me, that is a drastic difference from Phillips.

"We’re going to focus a lot on the process here. Do things the right way, and hopefully the results will take care of themselves."

This is quite possibly the biggest reason for why I've been optimistic regarding Jason Garrett. He understands the process.

I don't think Wade ever did.

Here is a link to the presser:

Well Garrett's got 3 rings and Wade has none. All this means is that he has experience in the things that translate into the ultimate success. Let's hope it translates again.

That funny, my old football coach always told me and others, that today is the day, take care of what you need and have to do today,
then when tomorrow comes you will be ready for tommorrow....

Yep, a focused, one game at a time mentallity.

The way it should be. You can tell that was not the case this year under Wade. It was last year though, so I have to give him SOME benefit of the doubt.

He sounds a lot like Nick Saban. Saban and many who coached for him always talk a lot about process. Love the process, concentrate on the process and the results will follow. etc. Jason coached under Saban and appears to have incorporated that emphasis on process into his own coaching philosophy.

The thing that stood out to me was the order to be at work 1 hour earlier.

That sounds to be something that will continue to, not just on the "transition day".

These are the types of things leaders do to try to solve problems. It seemed Wade never had a clue.

Games are won during the week and Garret understands that. I'm still not sold, but like always, I try and see the glass half full.

That phrase reminded me of a certain quarterback on this roster.

I believe that JG got to Dallas in 1993 giving him two rings...but yep...more than WP will ever have.

I can tell you one thing for sure, that I do Not know Saban,
but my football coach was a very good coach and was a very good football player himself..

Take care of the little things, and the big things will take care of themselves..

He use to say....:star:

That has always been a knock on Wade the HC, he never could read the locker room or manage a teams weekly regiment effectively as his tenure progressed.

The good thing about Garrett, up to this point, is that he appears to be trying to implement "his" ideas and change the weekly regiment into one that builds a foundation, not only from day to day, but week to week, with an emphasis of being prepared on gamedays. If he can get the players to buy into his way of doing things, he should have long term success as a head coach.

Here is Nick Saban's base football philosophy: (Via Derek Dooley)

It's simple:

1. Stop the run

2. Pressure the QB on 3rd down

3. Have a good return game and special teams to control the vertical field position

4. Run the ball (Ingram/Richardson)

When has Nick Saban ever had a star QB during his time at LSU or Alabama? If you do these things well, you will give your team a chance to win every week, imo. Of course, your QB can't be terrible, either.

Right now:

1. Dallas can't stop the run
2. Dallas isn't getting pressure on the QB on third down.
3. Dallas' special teams have hurt them this year, but they have improved.
4. Dallas' very poor, anemic offensive line can't run the football.

Dallas could win some games with Kitna if they did these four things good.

Yeah, I think every coach has their way of trying to get there players to focus in practice on getting better. I live in TN and UT's new football coach Derek Dooley talks a lot about process, he also coached under Saban. As a matter of fact Dooley could have given both of Garrett's PC's. Saban's way of dealing with the media must be popular with Coaches. Give them enough to write a story, but don't give them anything more.

The funny thing is that people thought that since Garrett was the offensive coordinator, he ran the offensive side of the ball. What change could Garrett bring?

Phillips was still the HEAD COACH. We are now seeing what Garrett is about.

And this is the exact reason that I've said this entire season that I believe Jason Garrett will be a better head coach than offensive coordinator.

Should be 1 hour later as well in addition to that.

I imagine the players are currently hating Garrett. That will likely change when they see what hard work can do but you just know some of the lames are pissed they actually have to work.

Why not just go all the way.

Bring blankets and pillows.

I'd like to see Garrett make them start camp fires by frantically rubbing sticks together.

Bingo!! Now we know where Romo's been getting his coach-speak from. It's great to hear it from both of them.
