Any thoughts? Garrett would make a good GM. Of course Jerry would have to move aside....he is getting older. Bring in a hungry head coach with aggressive ideas.

We have had an unnamed GM for some time now. Will McClay is and has been serving in that capacity, even though Jerry retains his imaginary GM title. The bonus there for McClay is that he has Jerry around to take the heat in his stead if things go awry. It's a handy safety net to have at his disposal. ;)

I don't know if McClay is titled with that capacity, where does that put Stephen...? See the convulsion?
Our FO is such a distorted mess, its just a "good ole boys" club, that sets down together over 5 grand lunches, hangs out, has a few drinks, a few laughs, and makes critical franchise decisions.

McClay serves in his share of that capacity, even though Jerry retains the title. According to the publicly stated setup, there exists a "committee" approach to the things that most GMs (of other teams) tend to perform. The Cowboys' organization just dances to a different drummer than the rest. Jerry, Stephen and Will McClay supposedly comprise the "blessed trinity" ownership of GM responsibilities, according to Jerry's unofficial claims.

it's a perfect match for him, JJ likes lame-duck people....he has had one at HC for about a decade....why not change the name of the GM to yet another lame-duck, has no responsibility, only gets in front of the camera guys

pfffft, garrett should be given permanent "time to spend with his family"....

I do not think he is a very good judge of talent because he often rolls into the season with incomplete teams.

I recall seasons:

1.) Where dallas didn't have an OL that could punch in a TD
2.) Dallas played a 3 headed monster rushing attack. I still laugh about that.
3.) A DL with no pass rush so the team had to play 3 man fronts that got burned on 3rd and long
4.) Rolling into a season with Weeden as a Backup.
5.) We don't even know if Rush of White could Backup Dak.
6.) The Wr by group that cost Dallas a 1st round pick.
7.) No backup for Zeke last season
8.) No TE on the team.
9.) How many years of a wounded Lee holding the Defense together?
10.) A defensive secondary that doesn't know what an interception is.

Remember when the Eagles brought in a hungry coach with aggressive ideas. That Chip guy?
Didn't work out so well.
:muttley:
Not saying keep JG as HC. But be careful what one wishes for.

And all of this is on Garrett?

I’ve always believed what Jerry said when he hired Garrett and named him” the future of the Dallas Cowboys” which was before he named Wade HC in one of the most dysfunctional and unprecedented moves not only in Cowboy history but the NFL.

Everything Jerry has done to protect Jason would support Jerry is All In with Jason. And why else would Jason tolerate the humiliation of being a puppet without the understanding he was protected.

Garrett has brought some class and dignity to the embarrassment which used to be known as the best ran franchise in the league. While Garretts Game Day coaching abilities certainly can be questioned the cultured he’s created along with the talent he’s influenced assembled cannot be. We are in the best place we’ve been since Parcells resurrected us from the 5-11 Funk.

Unfortunately whatever plans Jethro and Son have for Garrett down the line will have to wait so the Football Idiot can continue pursuing his selfish egotistical ambitions. But I already see Coach G as I call him as a Walk Around GM as he attempts to influence and steer the dysfunctional organization in a better direction.

Anything to get him off the field and away from coaching...

I think that will happen.

Jerrah and Stephen have invested close to 20 years in him with his playing career included.

They are not just going to kick him to the gutter.

Somewhere in the Franchise he has a place.
