According to ESPN Dallas:

Keeping two kickers is far from ideal, but Jason Garrett strongly hinted that it would be seriously considered.

This is the first I've read about it, although I always thought it could be a consideration. I think Dallas hopes Rayner shows he can handle kickoff and field goals before considering this, though.

I think we stick with the original two guys, Buehler and Bailey.

Yeah I would be surprised if they did this, probably possible if Graham won the FG contest but we know his KOs suck. I think Rayner will get the job and we only keep one kicker. Bailey to PS.

ewww what a waste of a roster spot. If you have 2 kickers you have none. I rather just hire a kicking coach, bioni (sp? ) how ever you spell is name. He use to be a kicking coach here. I rather not waste a spot on the 53 man roster or 46 gameday roster for another kicker. Either choose Bailey or bueler.

Chris Boniol is the kicker coach right now.

If Buehler gives you one more touchback per game than the other kicker, then that is just as good as making a special teams tackle. He probably makes the roster over another non-kicking special teams player.

Well congrats to Buehler, looks like he made it

Well, I was actually wondering if anyone has seen any confirmation of this.

Buehler has always seemed confident that he would be there, but I haven't heard the coaches say anything about possibly keeping two until this little blurb from ESPN.

Like I said, I've thought that it has to be a consideration, especially with Dallas allowing a big return in each game.

I'm not sure I agree if he was only worth one more touchback per game. I'd expect him to possibly be kept if Dallas feels he can pretty much limit the opposition to no kickoff returns.

If his leg strength has returned, after he let it wane last year while concentrating on his field goal kicking, he should be able to consistently put it in the back of the end zone or out if DeCamillas lets him.

I heard the media ask Garrett about the possibility of keeping two kickers during Tuesday's press conference. He said it was too early to think about that or some such deferral. He neither confirmed nor denied its consideration.

It is too early by the way. Your talking about probably THE last slot on the roster. One more game and lots of players to be sifted first.

Great news. The Buehler's goal should be an entire season with all kickoffs resulting in touchbacks with the ball spotted on the 20.

If you are making one tackle per game on the kickoffs per game, then you are doing pretty well as a special teams player. Plus if Buehler's getting an extra 4-5 yards on his kickoffs compared to the other kicker, then he's probably providing a field position advantage even when there isn't a touchback.

Hey, John Madden is a member......

That's what I was wondering. I haven't read what ESPN Dallas is saying anywhere else, that it will be "seriously considered." So I wondered if the writer was drawing his own conclusions.

I'll have to go back and look who wrote it. If it's Todd Archer, I give what he says a little more weight than Watkins or McMahon.

I don't think of it that way with Buehler. If he's making one tackle a game for the kickoff unit by getting one more touchback than the other kickers would, then he's not worth a roster spot if the opposition is still getting a big return once per game.

His value for me is the touchbacks because I want to severely limit the other teams' chances of getting a return, not just knock it down to once or twice per game. The new rules should give him the ability to do that, where only the occasional miskick is truly returnable.

Buehler isn't very good as a FG kicker, we've all seen that.

Nobody can deny though...that man can kickoff. What a leg.

Has Dallas ever had a solid, consistent kicker last more than 2-3 seasons? I feel like this has been an ongoing issue since like 1990.

Beuhler is very good at the long FGs; so keep whichever of the others are the best at 40 on in.

Yeah, I still don't understand how his percentage from 50+ is so much better than his mid-range percentage. He has actually kicked a good amount from 50+ also.
