Anybody think we "Might" see Garrett form a sort of DRAFT pipeline with Nick Saban? Sort of in the way Belichik (?) developed one with Urban Meyers over the last 3 years or so, and the way Jimmy Johnson had one with the "U" when he first came to the NFL coaching ranks. We know Jason coached under Saban, he respects Saban, and Saban's players are usually NFL ready, and in this case probably very scheme friendly with what we are running. I am NOT saying this will or should happen. Just curious how likely you think it MIGHT happen.

And since everything has to be clarified and spelled out around here these days, I am certainly NOT implying we would draft ONLY players from Alabama, nor that they would take precedence over someone our scouts have a higher rating on. Merely saying Jason would have some Possible Inside scoop on players who have played under Saban, and thus might show more of a proclivity towards drafting them. Sort of like the way The Tuna mostly wanted to draft guys who had the same agent as he did.

Actually, yes I do, but not necessarily in the same way you describe. I think he will ask Saban for input on any kid in the SEC or that Bama faces. He'll ask for strengths and weaknesses. But I want to emphasize one thing here; most coaches do this already. The difference might be in the level of trust between them, but most coaches want their kids drafted. The value of their program in recruiting is who they send on to the ultimate level.

Obviously Garrett is likely to consult Saban on his players and other SEC players as well. Not sure this constitutes a "pipeline" because obviously there is no actual connection, but I think it's pretty standard for NFL coaches to consult with college coaches they know well.
