I think the problem is Garrett doesn't care what the media wants to know. Really, who needs to know from Feb to June who is going to call plays. Garrett blows them off because it's none of their business. JJ on the other hand loves the media and loves talking and just can't control himself.

Can you blame Garrett?

Good gosh, Jerry, shut your stupid mouth and get out of the way!

However, Garrett should be more forthcoming with this to begin with. But it is (should be) his call.

Is it me or does the writer of this article seem to take glee in the confusion of making the official call of Callahan. He ends it by saying this situation creates an "every coach for himself" mentality." It does?

In a separate article he says "our national nightmare is over" in reference to the Cowboys naming a play caller. Pretty condescending.

It's a subsidiary of NBC Sports so I get it.

The only purpose in actually announcing who the play caller is, is to appease the fans. He shouldn't have to do that. Otherwise, whether anybody outside the team knows who's calling the plays or not is irrelevant.

Exactly. Who the heck cares if Garrett's lil feelings are hurt. Quit then. No one and I mean NO ONE will be complaining if you do.

Garrett can't do both: coordinator/call plays and head coach. It has been proven time and time again.

Yea as a head coach I have no problem with Garrett. Players respond to him and this team is in better hands now that he's been head coach as opposed to before with Wade. There atleast seems to be some form of direction.

Not if you're paying attention, no. He's as good as you can hope for, given who our owner is.

And frankly, he's got the makings of a tremendous football coach. He just should be doing it Jimmy style, and staying out of the playcalling fray.

Quarterbacks sometimes make for impatient playcallers.

I like that Garrett does not just rollover on command for Jerry like Wade did.

I see Garrett as somewhere between Wade and Parcells in terms of overall influence on the team including the acquisition of players and coaches.

This.
The media and some fans feel like its their right to know....in tabloid fashion.
Really, until the season starts, what is the advantage in talking about it?

Ridiculous.

I'd be complaining plenty. Garrett is growing into an excellent head coach.

And by the way, if Garrett leaves, you're next head coach will be someone exactly like Wade Phillips or Dave Campo. Jerry doesn't hire big names unless he needs to build a stadium.

Where are you getting the bolded?

Honestly wondering because I've seen nothing that shows this. He wouldn't adjust last year when the offense actually showed it worked better in a hurry up mode. He has consistently made time management snafus every year he has been here. He basically hasn't done anything impressive in my book but not dance for Jerry. That includes his stint as OC. I praise Romo. I even try and give Jerry the benefit here and there. But Garrett has been an issue with this team...IMHO..for years.

If the fans are like last season and Jerry is feeling the heat...he'll hire a real coach like he did with Parcells

JG is being such a pansy with this whole thing. If the decision was already made, he needed to grow a pair and say so weeks ago.

He just appears to act a bit more petulant when what his employer says contradicts his vague assertions.

The results are still basically the same.
