Seems like the same offensive game plan every week. No motion, no exploiting matchups, just the same 3 or 4 play calls and hoping Romo can do his thing.

I think this team has something special in Murray...Jason needs to start gameplanning around this guy. It would only help Romo to do so.

Just disappointed overall in Jason. I think he was given this job too soon and the players like Romo, Witten and Ware are paying the price.

Bah...just venting.

I have to agree with you here. His play calling is bad. Why not let Callahan call plays? In the 2nd half there was really nothing he did to change it up. It was the same offense we had all game. Also, when we are behind there just isn't any urgency in trying to score. It seems we played conservative the whole game and it showed.

I'm getting tired of the 1 yard run up the middle on second down after a first down incompletion. Like clockwork.

Garrett's entire raison d'etre on this team is to call plays. That's what he was brought here to do. He is supposed to be some kind of genius. If he isn't calling plays, there is no reason for him to be here at all. We can find any old figurehead to give the "all three phases" speech.

yeah. but we didn't see the delay draw much today. Probably because there was a defender in Romo's face all day.

He is the coach, he doesn't have to call plays. He can give it to Callahan if he so chooses.

His playcalling was awful. Its predictable and its never changed. We need a different playcaller on offense.

I'm still evaluating.

Living in Houston I get to see Kubiak's offense and they make everything look so damn easy because they attack a team's weakness instead of using the same gameplan regardless of opponent.

Of course they have a decent offensive line, something that Jerry and company have decided to ignore.

So what would that leave Garrett to do? Mismanage the clock? Seriously, if he isn't calling plays, he's useless. His supposed playcalling genius is the entire reason Jerry fell in love with him in the first place.

Go to the no huddle once in a while if the offense is stuck. Do something.

Don't ask me. But I do know he doesn't have to playcaller if he doesn't want to. He should ignore Jerry.

Ignore Jerry? :laugh2:

Remember when Jerry forced Garrett's predecessor to call plays?

It wasn't that long ago.

My only problem with Garrett and the coaching staff in general, is that they come out so passive to start the game. This team is never, and hasn't been in the past 10 years, in attack mode. It always play with a lack of urgency, with a "we'll get them next time," attutude. They let the other team dictate to them instead of taking charge from the get go.

If Garrett gives up playcalling, he is essentially telling Jerry he can't do the job he was hired to do. It won't happen. The day JG gives up playcalling is the day he is fired as head coach.

Thats too bad. Because we are now stuck with a very good QB that has to run the same predictable plays over and over. Is that insanity?

:bang2:

Pretty much. Our offense works best when the play breaks down and Romo improvises.

I think his biggest problem is that he takes "what the other team gives us" and essentially lets the other team dictate how plays are called instead of taking control of the game and forcing the other team to adapt to what we are doing. He has gotten better this year though. Our main problem today on offense was not the play calling but the execution.

We really don't do anything sophisticated like play action pass, man in motion, counter plays, etc.

I remember them putting TO in motion a few years ago, but for some reason they don't do it that much anymore.
