You know, there are many reasons the Cowboys have been having trouble this season, but the one thing that I've seen that has been consistent in every game.

The offense isn't prepared. They are making mistake after mistake after mistake. It's not just one guy either, it's almost the entire offense that's part of the problem.

This in my opinion falls right on Garrett. This is something that used to always be a problem with his teams, but that has slowly changed over the last few years. This year, it's returned in force.

Garrett needs to clean this up. He has seen this for three straight games, for the offense. I think this should be priority #1. It is extremely hard to win when you keep shooting yourself in the the foot.

the off sides penalties are the ones that drive me nuts, as well as not lining up onside. Those should never happen.

it has been a few games since we got back to blaming it all on garrett. that was pretty quick overall.

Give examples. The Cowboys had less penalties and penalty yardage than the Falcons.

Other than penalties and Weeden's issues, where were the mistakes?

I don't see players looking lost like they did in the days of Ogletree and MartyB.

They gotten good play from rookies under Garrett's HC tenure (Fred, Martin, Collins, etc..).

The RBs blocked the right guys in pass protection.

Of the 3 games I can only remember 1 pass route where I thought someone ran it wrong.

I'm talking about the penalties. The fact that the Falcons had more isn't an excuse. You of all people on this board should know this.

and what is Linehan's responsibility in all of this? oh yeah I forgot, we give him credit for all the good stuff that's happened.

this is an offense that's missing its Starting QB, Starting LG and Starting WR.

Rod job is to get this defense ready and they failed to do so in this game, 1st 2 games defense played solid this past game they looked bad. I'm sure he will be hard these guys except for Coleman he was sent packing.

Blame floats to the top. Linehan is the OC. He has a job to create the offensive game plan, but the overall team is Garrett's and if they aren't focused, then it's Garrett's job.

Completely and utterly irrelevant. A missing QB/LG/WR does not force a team into false starts, holding, etc.

They were 5-31 in penalties for the Falcons game. That's probably below the NFL average.

I don't know how the HC gets Witten to false starting. I think Free had a holding penalty but holding is the only way Free manages to function because he is a terrible player.

The penalties on the Cowboys offense were:
Smith holding, 10 yards
Witten false start, 5 yards
Free holding, 10 yards

Would you mind telling my boss that? He seems to think it's my fault when I'm not focused. Something about me being an adult. He doesn't listen!

I agree with this. Primarily, the OL has been out of synch all year, and it's hurt us. Game one, we had players not taking proper care of the ball, and the OL wasn't as effective on the zone run blocks as they had been at times previously. Game two was obviously the penalties, and some of those were crazy, but it still debilitated the whole offensive team. This week, we got one good half out of them, and then the OL went back to players taking turns losing their one on ones. Oh, and our fullback can't dig anybody out of a hole when you need him to.

For the most part, I think the OL problems have probably had to do with a lack of time to work together as a unit in the preseason. The ball control stuff like the Beasley and Escobar fumbles need to start costing players snaps. Randle almost had one, too, at on the goal line last week.

This team is talented, and we've had a lot of significant personnel setbacks that have probably thrown everybody into a funk here early. It's time for them to wake up. I want to see the OL play a full four quarters of dominating football this week and we'll take it from there. Coleman lost his job already. Russell better be looking over his shoulder. Every offensive position where we have legitimate options --RB, LG, TE, QB--people need to be looking over their shoulder for somebody to take their snaps for a week or a season. Drive killing drops need to cost you playing time. It's time for the coach to step up and make some statements.

I thought they looked very scatter brained against the Giants, with Romo having to tell people where to line up and what side of the field to go to. It was a little better against Philly, but still present. I didn't notice it too much with Atlanta. I think they tried to be a lot more simple last week with Weeden. Unfortunately, they got manhandled in the 2nd half. The defense, I understand, but the offensive line has not been very consistent this year.

I only remember Romo telling the rookie Lucky where to line up in the Giants game.

If he tells you to focus and you do not. It's his job to correct the situation by having you replaced with someone that will focus. :)

Yeah, that's the only one I remember, too.

We haven't looked completely discombobulated. It's been frustrating, because it's like people are taking turns missing assignment or with other execution errors, while most of the offense is doing it's job. But it's been enough that it's hurting drives or killing them outright.

We look to me like a really good team that's just running a little bit ragged right now. Other than the obvious injuries, of course.

There were some other instance like Randle being on Romo right side and Romo moving him over to the left but that has more to do with Romo seeing where the blitz is coming from and adjusting his blocking. There are also time the play we are going to run has been flipped where guys may be lining up to one side Romo will flip the play to the other side.

Yes, they do that but those are not mistakes, just adjustments.

I thought the offense has been fairly clean in terms of being organized, even with Weeden starting.

Other than Weedens issues, the biggest mistakes are performance not mental. Free getting beaten on a simple run play or Free holding because he is not good enough to make the block without holding. Garrett can't make Free a better player than Free is capable of being (Well he could have if he had stood on the table last spring and demanded that they sign Parnell and let Free move on).

Not even going to get into your man love of Parnell. That is your take yet evidently not that of the Cowboys.

Garrett is just a walk around coach from what I was told.

I hear ya though. A little early to be proclaiming that the past has come back to haunt us. Wait till after the BYE.

Also, only so much you can do when one of the best QB - WR tandems gets hurt in consecutive weeks.

Start with getting the OL to kick *** again. Granted, I don't think the OL should be expected to block 8 guys as more teams dare Weeden to throw a ball longer than 7 yards.
