I think in Garrett's mind, he isn't mediocre. I think he believes he's an excellent coach who is a victim of others around him. (Just like so many of his fans claim.)

It's subtle, but if you pay close attention you can see that Jason really loves him some him.

Consistently playing down to the level of competition

Consistently mismanaging the clock

Consistently delivering a plain and predictable offense and defense.

And, worst of all, consistently avoiding any semblance of accountability.
