From The Associated Press:

“It looks like he’s moving around a little better,” Garrett said. “We’ll have to see how he responds to the work he did today. We’ll continue to evaluate it up til game time.”

great news..i feel with the whole secondary out there, we will win for sure

looks like the boys are getting healthy quick.

Sooooo are the bandwagon fans going to jump back on the cowboys come sunday vs the jets??????

Of course he's moving better. He WANTS to be out there.

He's been out there hurt before and WANTS to play.

I admire the desire but he is not playing all that well when hurt.

It's up to the coaches right now to tell him to rest up because they need top notch play from him.

I'd have him out through the bye week. Let him come back healthy and ready to go.

Does anyone know when the last time Newman was actually 100% and in a game? I'm not taking shots right now, I seriously want to know if someone can remember.

I think Garrett is just trying to hide the status of these guys as long as possible.

I think he should sit, I wanna see why we gave Scandrick 27 million. I think this is the best time to find out whether he has "it" or not.

even if newman plays, scandrick will still play alot. I think newman might play but scandrick will get to start, "because of newmans healthy" he will be our 3rd cb. I rather have him out there than ball or McCann.

Agreed!

this.

we probably already have one corner starting who hasn't even played a single down in preseason (Jenkins), let's not start 2 and pretend things will go swimmingly.

rest it, let him get 100% and AT LEAST get a full week of practice in

We need him out there but I think they should let him sit if there is any chance he could have a set back. It is a long season and not worth rushing him back, especially considering it looks like Jenkins will be able to play. Scandrick and Jenkins can get the job done.

This is the premise of the attitude that gets this board so worked up and freak out after every loss.

Why do you think we will "win for sure?"

I can't see that line of reasoning. The Jets are one of the best teams in the league, and we're coming off a lockout shortened season, with a new defense, and starting 2 rookies, and a 2nd year undrafted free agent.

But as long as we have a healthy secondary we "win for sure?"

I think you are really over-rating the squad this early in the year.

Off the top of my head, I want to say beginning of 2009 maybe?

The Cowboys must have the most inept medical staff in the last half century....it's the only way to explain how Newman has faked this injury to avoid practicing. It's true, I read it here.

If we win, they'll find something to whine about.

HaHa, I actually wish he was faking an injury, the team would be better off with him out there.

I think that's normal.

No team ever plays perfect, and there is always room for improvement.

For me, it's part of watching a game, is evaluating strengths and weaknesses of the collective team, and individuals.

I am not a huge Newman fan but do you seriously think he is faking being injured? If that was the case why wouldnt he return to the line up this week instead of making it a game time decision? That makes no sense.

I said whine, though, not evaluate with a critical eye.

Similar to the "cut Ratliff" screams after the San Diego game.
