You don't just change things up when you've reeled off 7 wins straight. That would be the epitome of stupid! If it ain't broke, leave it alone.

youre one of those that doesnt check the spare tire till you need it on the side of the road, arent ya?

Jason Garrett on some Cowboys saying David Irving ejection set tone: well, that's a great rationalization.

Chase Williams ‏@chasepwilliams 2h2 hours ago
On 7-1 start. Jason Garrett: "There's never a time when you finally have something accomplished."

So David Irving thinks his #DALvsCLE fight/ejection 'set a #Cowboys tone'? 'Thats a great rationalization,' deadpans RedBall.
#Cowboys Garrett loves Marnelli's 'Mighty Orphans' defense nickname

Garrett on Romo: "He did have two good days of practice last week but we'll see how he does tomorrow and Wednesday." He remains day to day.

David Helman ‏@HelmanDC 2h2 hours ago
Jason Garrett says Ron Leary seemed fine after the game last night. "Day by day" as usual, but sounds like Leary might be able to practice.

David Moore ‏@DavidMooreDMN 1h1 hour ago
Tony Romo has been cleared to practice. Jason Garrett said how much QB does this week isn't determined, but it will go beyond last week.

Mike Leslie ‏@MikeLeslieWFAA 1h1 hour ago
Romo is making progress. Garrett says he's cleared to practice. He'll do more this week than he did last week. But decisions are day-by-day.

Only if his teammates are willing to pay for his fines.

Well, according to former Panthers OL Frank Garcia, NFL teams commonly cover players' PF fines with bonuses of some kind. He mentioned that on WFNZ after Denver mauled them in week one. Was speaking to another NFL player at the time, who agreed with him. Can't remember who the other guy was but he was from a different organization. Said it was common then and now. He didn't go into the in's and out's of how it works with the salary cap and everything--just that guys knew they were covered for that stuff.

My prediction continues to be that eventually Dak will has some poor outings and Romo will be the starter again. At that point we will see if Romo is still the better QB. If he is, he will play unless he gets hurt again.

If Romo can't perform at Dak's level, Dak will play and Romo will be a very expensive but valuable backup.

Keyword: eventually. So that means 2-3 more games will have been played before that decision is made.

We will be 11 games deep in the season with 5 remaining. Romo has only played about 4 games in nearly 2 years. How much will rust play a factor in his performance? That seems awfully late into the season to be bringing back an injury prone QB who will most likely need a couple of games before he hits his stride.

I don't even know why Irving got ejected. Their center threw his helmet and I didn't see a punch or anything from Irving.
That's the biggest mystery of the Browns game. Nobody knows what happened to spark it. Even Broaddus, in his Scouts Eye report, couldn't tell what happened from the All-22.

I can't believe that, at all. It might be common, but it's a violation of the CBA. Teams are not supposed to pay player fines. I think other players might chip in to cover a fine. I also think the NFL offers a payment plan of sorts so that you don't have a guy like David Irving whose on the low end of the salary scale playing for free on Sundays.

Do you know anything about that @AdamJT13?

The way he described it, they weren't paying the fines on paper. Rather giving them bonuses that offset the fines, with the bonuses obstensibly being for something else. He didn't say how quick the turnaround was.

And see I was reading on twitter that "they gave each other the business." lol

But who knows. Very odd.

The team would have to renegotiate the player's contract to include the additional payment for something legitimate (at least one paper), and it would count against the cap. I'm not sure if the NFL would openly approve of a "wink wink" deal like that, but as long as it is included in the contract and doesn't circumvent the cap, I doubt the league would try to prove that it was related to the fine.

I heard someone ask Jason if Romo threw today. His response was pretty weird. Something like "I don't have an answer for that." It was clear that he didn't want to answer it, and also obvious that he should know the answer, but the way he phrased it was awkward. Maybe Jerry hadn't given him the scripted response.
Could be he hasn't attended that portion of the day yet. Head Coaches do more than just hang out on the field. That's why they have staff.
