Tony Romo said he could play right now but team wants him to be precautions.
Tony Romo downplays change in offensive play-caller, says it's still going to be Jason Garrett's system.
Tony Romo said he feels good, he's been throwing, running on the treadmill. He said if there was anything next week he'd be out there.
Romo: "Just being smart. We could go this week but it looks like the training staff guys just want to be cautious...full speed next week."

Nick Eatman ‏@nickeatman 4m
Romo: this is Jason's system and it's going to stay that way

Calvin Watkins ‏@calvinwatkins 2m
Tony Romo said he's been throwing passes for a while and he's feeling good. He participates in the walkthroughs.
Romo also said he doesn't care what his critics have to say. He said he has thick skin.
I was told Romo's back isn't an issue and he's on target for training camp. Cowboys don't feel he should practice right now.

Carlos A. Mendez ‏@calexmendez 14s
Tony Romo talked to reporters. Tells us, 'Not to be rude, but y'all don't matter.'
Romo said team gets a chance to hear his voice during walk-throughs, get a feel for his cadence, calls, just like in regular practice.
Romo said he’s been able to ‘get after it’ recently. He’s been throwing.
Romo repeats: playcalling is a collective. ‘A bunch of guys are going to get in, come up with a lot of good stuff...’
Romo: ‘Winning a Super Bowl is a challenge. It’s the ultimate challenge. It’s something that wakes me up, gets me excited in the morning.’
Romo: ‘I feel like there’s a couple ways to beat people. You out-work them, and you out-think them.’

I agree, had they just announced it back in January, and not confirm ot deny anything since then, no one would be asking questions.

it is always something with the dallas media in the offseason. they always have to pick on some story and make a big deal with it. the guard situation looks scary going into training camp again, having leary and arkin being the starters right now is making me very nervous. also parnell missing all of the offseason training and mini camp practices means that free is not going to have a problem winning the right tackle job which is not a good thing to look forward to.

And I can't get enough talk about the play calling. Clarity fuels hope. Hope fuels excitement. Look at this quote....

What I see here between the lines is that the system is changing. "Installing" plays on a system that your team and veteran QB has been using for over 7 years, means there is at least change in the form of added looks, new use of weapons, or maybe the zone-blocking element changes the way running plays are executed or decoyed. As long as there is change to a system that has hit a wall of antiquity, GREAT NEWS...keep it coming.

I see what you're saying, but good reporting doesn't require you to read between the line. If they were worth their salt, they would would have pursued that line of questioning instead of harping on the "controversy".

I really enjoyed Jason Garrett's presser today. He was open and honest with everything and "came clean" with the mess that occurred last week.

I think delegating the responsibilities was a good move.

I have a sense that this is somewhat of a common thought around VR.

I don't ever look at Garrett and think "liar" or "bs"...the guy seems real to me.

He has some growing still to do as HC though, and I did have issues with him as OC.

In all this, Callahan is the goofball who screwed up. The old man gave a hint to the media, the media basically lied to Callahan to see if he would confirm, and Callahan took the bait. Now, he puts the head coach in a awkward position of having to take the blame, and Garrett fell on the sword and did it.

All in all, its not a big deal, but it does show how much Callahan can be fooled by the media into admitting something. Duh.

Of course, you can try to blame Jerry who started it, but you can't really control that loose cannon. Besides, he never really came out and said anything.

I agree with Garrett, that the less you give the opponents the better you are. And even though he kept things close to the vest, it got leaked (by others) so he had to clean up the mess.

Yep. For whatever reason, JG never gets credit when he comes out and takes responsibility for things, but today's example was yet another case of him doing just that, and handling it well.

Of course the offense will change some and likely a fair amount. You're going to see a lot more of the 12 and I think more H/F back stuff. Throw in a good bit more WCO than we're used to seeing as well.

Well, not all the time. In this case, he had bungled it in the first place, pre-Jerry's implication, so you don't really get kudos for coming out after the fact and saying, "My bad."

For the most part, I don't have a problem with how he handles the media, but in some things, clarity doesn't mean you're giving away trade secrets.

In his effort to follow the Parcells-Belicheck-Saban mold of freezing out the media, he handles some basic things kinda poor.
