CowboyFan74;3099608 said:Not using Choice over Barber is the single largest failure of this offense since bringing in Vinny Testaverde...
utrunner07;3099603 said:Yes, from some of the hushed hallways of Valley Ranch I have heard secret whispers of both Choice and Kitna being held back for this final run, at which point the hounds will be released.
Coast2Coast27;3099555 said:I was thinking about this today, I m asking myself why isn't Jason Garrett using choice at all the past few weeks. I mean barely at all. Then I figured it's because he's saving him for december. And why not when you got two very capable backs in barber and Jones. I think Choice get's some quality carries against the Giants and the rest of the team's we play the last five weeks of the season. He will have some fresh leg's and be ready to go.
BoysfaninVegas;3099876 said:Really? So I dont really remember Choice being our primary back during the month of December last year?
Choice. 62 carries for 381 yards in December.
Barber. 13 carries for 15 yards in December.

Manster54;3099563 said:You don't "unleash" a 3rd stringer.
Don't get me wrong; I love everything about Choice.
Barber & Jones are healthy so Choice's touches decreased.
wayne motley;3099593 said:Personally, I think Garrett got caught up in the hoopla over Dallas having 3 pretty decent RBs and the idea that we need to get all 3 involved...that's a load of crap.
If you have a horse, you ride him...it's hard to make a good running back share time with one back, much less trying to get all 3 involved. What happens is you start slotting them into personel packages and certain plays...next thing you know you don't have a single back getting into a groove or rhythm.
I love Choice...I really do...but honestly, I think we need to hand MBIII the rock at least 20 times per game if he's healthy...we need to grind on other teams and bring Felix in for another 10+ carries or touches of some sort for the big play ability.
Choice needs to ride the pine and be ready to replace either guy if injured or underperforming. If you think he's better than MBIII, then sit MBIII and give Choice the rock 15+ times.
Just stop trying to be cute and get all 3 guys carries...pick and guy and run the plays he runs well, and let the OL get in a groove. The RB and OL need to have a chemistry just like other OLmen have to have chemistry with each other.
jazzcat22;3100388 said:Norm hitzges was talking about this also. Need to keep the 2 RB's in a rhythem.
As defenses already say we are predictable. So if each of the 3 RB's, has their type of playes, it makes it that much worse.
I do not think Choice needs to ride the pine. And should get a few carries a game. But all the carries do not need to be split with them.
I feel confident that no matter which back is in there, will get the job done.
CowboyFan74;3100210 said:That's a 6 yard average and a lot of it was against top 5 defenses but yeah he did nothing...
It pains me to say this but:
Choice > Barber
We consistently get more positive yards from Choice, he should be the feature back here...
ArmyCowboy;3100243 said:Exactly
Why would you give the 3rd string RB more carries at the expense of the top two?
BoysfaninVegas;3100461 said:Show me where I said he "did nothing?"
Choice had an excellent December last year but that still didn't stop us from going 1-3. So again, I don't see the benefit of saving him for December when it didn't help us last year.
Gaede;3100522 said:We lost in December because Hamlin was missing tackles and Romo was throwing picks. Choice was one of the few bright spots last December. Just because we didn't win does not mean that his play did not benefit us. It put us in a better position to win, but it didn't win the game for us because Kenny was arm tackling all over town and letting people waltz into the endzone.
Choice playing gives the team an identity, IMO, and enables us to play power football effectively.
CowboyFan74;3100505 said:He helped put us in position to win but Romo-ceptions un-did us. How is that Choice's fault? Saying he didn't help us negates the fact that he helped put us in a position to win. The pass is what inevitably costs us games and drives more often than not.
BoysfaninVegas;3100670 said:I never said it was "Choice's fault" or that "he didn't help us." I already stated that he had an excellent December last year so that obviously means that he helped and I'm thrilled we have him. But as you pointed out about the passing game, there are things that will be out of his control. The point I'm trying to make is that saving Choice for December isn't some missing ingredient that is going to put us over the top.
