Garrett wants Capers as his DC if he gets Broncos job

According to the National Football Post, Jason Garrett wants Dom Capers to be his defensive coordinator if Garrett gets the Broncos' coaching job.

Garrett and Capers worked together in Miami. Capers runs a 3-4 scheme, which Denver toyed with in 2008 but doesn't have the personnel for. Capers served as the Patriots' special assistant/secondary coach this past season.

I'm critical of Garrett as a coordinator, but I'll readily concede this point. Being a head coach and a coordinator take two different skill sets, and I always cringe when a coordinator gets a head-coaching gig based on his ability to draw up plays alone.

Now, Garrett might not make a good head coach either. But Baltimore already showed it begged to differ, and Denver might as well.

I'm not in favor of getting Shanny, but if the lineup would be Shanny/Garrett as HC/OC and Capers as DC, I'd sign up for that anyday.

I could absolutely see Wade enbding up in Denver as DC if he became available. It would certainly depend on who ends up being their HC & whether Wade gets set free or not.

Cutler will make him look good but the defense will bring them down till they get some players, then maybe watch out.

I think this would be good for Garret if he gets the head coaching job in Denver. I want him to stay because I think he will make a good head coach in time and having Capers here will be good for the defense. I mentioned this last week if Garret got the head coaching job will he bring Capers with him.

It's possible he'll go to Denver and turn out to be a really great head coach. That's entirely possible.

But it's also entirely possible that this season as OC wasn't some sort of fluke and he's really not all that great a coach, like some think, and he'll stink it up in Denver and be out of there within 2 seasons.

If he gets the job I wish him well but I certainly won't be unhappy, in the least, if he's not in Dallas.

I actually think Garrett would be a good fit in Denver.

Young coach that the owner is looking for. Garrett's offense...especially the passing offense would be a good fit in Denver IMHO.

Cutler has a very strong arm....with a little work he could be a QB that would flourish under Garrett and his timing based offense.

I wouldnt be surprised to see more outs and slants from Cutler.....it would be a different passing offense then what we seen here in Dallas
