I thought someone should call attention and give props to Jason Garrett. So I will. He has the team ready every week. Keeps them on an even keel. He gets a lot of grief at times but he's a solid coach and the players play hard for him. If he can get wins against Cincy and in Green Bay with two rookies leading the way, he should get some coach of the year votes in my opinion.

If the success continues I agree he should get the credit. But he won't. Once we shore up the defense, I believe Garrett can have 2014 type sucess consistently. He's a players coach that the guys seem to relate to well. What bugs me is who he listens to. The challenge person keeps giving him bad info. When he iced our kicker, the special teams coach was in his ear. If he can clean up those communication/decision making issues, he can possibly, maybe, probably get some love.

Garrett is a good coach. Has been since he has been here both as an OC and as a HC. He has made some mistakes, but what coach hasn't? He gets his team ready, they play hard and are put in positions to win the games. That is what the HC is supposed to do.

Just an FYI, Garrett has (at least up until the current season) the best challenge-winning percentage of any active coach in the league. Sometimes it's easy to get wrapped up in the criticism in our own echo chamber here and to disregard the fact that the same stuff we complain about with our coaches goes on in every single NFL city in the league.

Wow. How about that? You're right. I got caught up and believed Garrett was bumbling the challenges when he's actually doing better than other coaches. Whodathunkit?

It's easy to do when you get a steady diet of 'Garrett sucks at challenges.' If you don't bother to look it up, you'd never know the reality is exactly the opposite.

Groupthink is a powerful force. :)

I will withhold judgement until I see how this Romo/Dak thing plays out. If the team and Dak are on a roll 5-1...how this is handled will tell me a lot about where we are as a FOOTBALL organization.

I'm just happy he learned how to coach again this season after forgetting last year everything he finally learned in 2014.

I bet he learns some more next season when we finally start adding enough talent to this defense.

Thank Dak Prescott. And thank the teams that moved up for Lynch and Connor Cook.

Oh, I know who to thank, because I knew what the issue was previously. Though, it's not just Dak. Dak wasn't able to do it any more than the other QBs were in week 1 with the players around him dropping balls and making mental errors. But when the players can actually play and they actually execute, coaching suddenly gets a lot easier. It's pretty obvious.

Coaching is a lot of things, not the least of which is to identify talent on your roster. Weeden was here two years and we had to go out and get Cassell. Both were scrubs. So when you're talking about executing, it's also about identifying the players on your roster who can do just that. If Kellen Moore doesn't get injured, we'd be "developing" Prescott on the bench. And we've already discussed his gaffes at length so I won't go into any further.

Can't forget something you don't know in the first place

This guy has already ruined the careers of Romo and Witten and Ware while "training" to be a coach. Let's hope he doesn't do the same to Dak

Garrett has a long track record of doing stupid things and being a spineless jellyfish

The same issues are continuing with Dez even now

Let's see how the year plays out before we make him coach of the year lol
Yes. Good post. Spineless jellyfish...lol!!

Garrett has been providing my greatest hope to overcome Jerry.

I'm not sure if that will ever bring a championship but probably a more consistent product.

He provides much more respectability and class than our front office debacle has most of this era.

All that's left for everyone to find pride in him is more success on the field.
