Feel free to offer your own opinions of what he will do to cement himself and improve this team in various areas. I see it plain and simple... His biggest challenge will be pointing all 53 players in the right direction. That includes Romo. I'm a huge Romo fan... so don't misunderstand my intent. I believe Garrett will have to ensure that Romo is focused on doing things in a slightly different way. Garrett is probably going to give Romo a little more room to operate on the field (a very good thing IMO) and it's going to be up to Tony to step his game up another level. Yes. Tony is a great QB. However, it's time for him to be given the latitude to call what he sees based upon what he sees when they go to the line (ala Manning, Brees..etc). I believe Tony is fully capable of handling that additional aspect of field management. In the long run, it will only serve to make our offense less predictable and more adaptable to various situations.

At the end of the day, the same old story will still hold true moving into next year. As Romo goes, so goes the team. I would like to see more preparation centered around getting out of the huddle much quicker and being able to make those dynamic formation changes at the line based on what the defense gives us. The days of players like Ray Lewis saying they knew exactly what we were going to run before we snapped the ball should be placed in the rear view mirror permanently.

To be honest, in black and white terms, his biggest challenge will to finish over .500...Do that, I'll consider that a triumph

I'd love to see Tony getting to call more of the plays. I'd also like to the no huddle run a lot more often. Tony has been fantastic in the no-huddle and I think we have the receivers to make it impossible to stop.

yeah we do need to get out of the huddle quicker but i think we dont is because we call 2 plays and we run the second play if romo says kill kill. And then you also have Romo telling people what to do and where to line up.

I think the bold will change under Garrett as the players will be much better coached in practice.

This is what I hope for.

converting aging team to a youthful one and converting this soft piece of crap team to a more physical mentality. As for results.........9 or 10 wins.

I think it will be getting rid of the old vets who have been making the locker room and team a little lazy. There are plenty of guys that talk alot more than they play and whose time has come.

to make the cowboys more disciplined and physical

we have the talent

couple these with a good DC

this will mean long-term success

that is what i want

I think these guys better prepare for the most physical training camp ever in July.

How about developing our draftees into starters. It seems like most of the time we draft guys with the intentions that maybe one day they will start. The starting position needs to always be up for grabs if they are to be successful on the field. I think a lot of the laziness we've seen is partly due to the fact that the players knew they were secure in their starting spots. The expectation should be for draftees to make contributions outside of special teams sooner rather than later. The expectation with the current players is to show up what they got every week or be replaced by someone who will.

This would be huge and would require more attention to detail. Something we now have under Garrett and will definitely have on the defensive side of the ball if Bowles gets the DC post. ;)

I think we began to see the beginning of this over the last 8 weeks of the season. I'm super excited to see what an off-season of re-invigoration will bring to the 53 that make it next year.

:hammer:

Isn't it great knowing that real changes are a coming? :D

Hopefully, starting from day 1 of camp. Instill his work ethic, accountability, cut out the three-ring circus, and get to the grind.
If he accomplishes those goals, look out for a good, solid season, barring they even play ball this year.
