As a Dallas Cowboy fan, I couldn't have asked for a better offseason or Draft. (please forgive me.. I'm the few that believe we're fine at RB and trust that our OL will continue to make truck size lanes for McFadden or Randle to silence the doubters) I get as excited as the next fan about our new talent and stay glued to my smart phone for any info of player development and/or disappointments. I love self evaluating players and tend to root more for the unheralded players. The 'Pet Cats' I assume would be more appropriate. So when Bryan Broaddus highlighted a player I never heard of.. I was obviously intrigued. After a little research, I found that the 6'4" 255lb DE was once the defensive MVP for the 2013 Aggies...Before an apparent altercation, He was a rising star on Texas A&M's defensive line:

2013 (JUNIOR): Started and played in the final 10 games of the regular season … recorded 47 stops on the season, including 29 solo tackles … had three sacks and a quarterback hit … logged two sacks and nine total tackles against Vanderbilt (Oct. 26) ... had a career-high 10 tackles against Auburn on Oct. 19 ... was named the Defensive MVP.

He left Texas A&M for "personal matters", but its believed he was asked to leave because at the time A&M had several players that had run-in's with the Law. Hopefully that was all it took to snap Stansbury back in shape. He ended up transferring to Houston and had another successful season.

2014: Started the final 12 regular-season games at defensive end and appeared in all 13 games for the Cougars in 2014 ... finished the regular-season with 60 tackles including four for a loss, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble and fumble recovery ... recorded seven tackles and one quarterback hit in Houston's comeback victory in the Armed Forces Bowl ... picked up a career-high nine tackles and a sack in the season finale against Cincinnati ... kept Houston's forced turnover streak alive with a fumble recovery vs. Mustangs ... also had a sack and a blocked kick at SMU ... tallied a season-high eight tackles ... recorded six tackles vs. Tulane ... tallied two tackles in win over USF ... had three tackles and a sack vs. Owls ... had four tackles at Memphis ... finished with seven tackles, a fumble recovery and two quarterback hurries ... tallied three tackles vs. UNLV ... at BYU, had four tackles ... vs. Grambling, racked up four tackles in that game ... made his Houston debut vs. UTSA in the 2014 season opener after transferring in from Texas A&M (named 2013 Defensive Team MVP) ... tallied three assisted tackles vs. Roadrunners, a half sack for a loss of five yards and a solo tackle for a loss of six yards.

Now I'm not stating he is going to take over the world or anything, but it will be fun watching him this spring and maybe he can be another of a long list of undrafted free agents to make the team. He Looks to have the measurables and has a lot to prove. What do you think and please plug in anyone else that may be intriguing.. Thanks for reading.

Watch out for Chris Whaley. He had a redshirt rookie season last year for the Boys' but he will make the team and I would be surprised if he starts at the DT position next to Crawford. The guy is a beast. Since he came from Texas and is a converted RB, many people compare him to Henry Melton which isn't a bad comparison. I would challenge people to look at him like a previous Marinelli DT at Tampa Bay, Warren Sapp. Just watch these Highlights:

I am looking forward to see what Whaley can bring. I can't recall what his draft status was projected to be if not for his injury. But I believe he would have been in the top 3 rounds.

He had a 7th round-UDFA grade from Brugler, an UDFA grade from Frank Coyle and a similar grade from Scouts Inc. I doubt the injury, which is not career threatening, caused such a drastic drop.

But hey, spin away. Maybe he was top 20.

he wasnt trying to amke him sound a superstar. Just saying what he thought , rounds 1 to 3 have huge drop off and who know how deep that position was in the draft.

Sometimes you have to be nice.

Like free speech and guns rights?

I like Whaley a lot he looks bigger than the other DTs, bring the fella in from Aggie land as well. Dallas needs some meat up front.

no, im a big fan of both and im jerk around here, being nice is just being a human. Sometimes we have to remind each other that. I like Risen, i dont always have to agree with him, but sometimes we both need a wake up call to be human.

I want to see Whaley on goal line plays, on offense. He def knows what to do when he has the ball. Love his work ethic and character, reminds me a little of Russell Maryland. And if he keeps growing, he could be answer to the 1 tech.

I harken back to players that were not rated highly by the draft gurus who made their impact.
To me looking at these You Tube video's.Whaley appears to show a little something
he certainly flashes. I don't know, but by the end of training camp I'll have an uneducated opinion
