GB: Dallas Cowboys newest running back isn't fair

I'm excited to see what he does as a Cowboy! With a solid O-line with good run protection, this kid's gonna smoke some defenses.
I was impressed with his YAC. He’s not a big guy but still gets really good yardage after contact. Runs routes like a WR. Has good speed and hands. I don’t know if you want to pound him up the middle 20 times a game but he’s a weapon that if used right can help the run and passing game. Coming out of the backfield in a LB or even a safety is a nice mismatch

Wait a minute here.

I thought we evaluated running backs based on their ability to pass block and if they aren't good at pass blocking they are going to get Dak "killed", so they shouldn't play.
Pass blocking is impirtant. But he can learn to block. It’s nice to have a big guy like Zeke blocking and hammering a blitzer but all you realky have to have is the RB redirect him and allow QB time to move or throw

I will never complain about a guy being too fast. Blue has the kind of speed Dallas needs on offense. Watching him run pass routes, I think he does it better than some of Dallas's receivers and better than any Cowboys RB I can recall in years. He has the potential to be a true pain in the butt for defenses.

Now, if Dallas can only block for him. It's not just the OL. Even if we assume Smith, Beebe and Booker will be dominant inside, Blue is going to earn his keep running outside. That means our TEs and WRs, had better learn to block and hold their blocks without holding. And this is where I think Mingo might have an advantage over Tolbert in the competition for the WR2 spot.

I love the idea of getting him matched up with LBs on pass plays.
He does run routes really well and it’s not like he’s gonna be covered by a CB. I was impressed with his yards after contact. He’s not a big guy but still managed some impressive YAC

Blue will be a good change of pace & perimeter back but lacks the strength to consistently run inside. Still need a work horse unless Javonte or Mafah play out of their minds. Both can have better years than expected. I’m still hopeful we add more weapons at RB or WR before the season starts whether via FA/trade.
Nearly every team in football needs multiple backs.

We are no different.

It’s rare to find that one guy and have them stay healthy for 17 games.

It’s a position you have to have a committee of guys.

Blue is decent at blocking.

He’s just not going to stonewall guys.

But knows his assignments and shows effort.

Ok. Let's wait and see.

And what will happen? He will make a few big plays and you and the rest will say...look didn't we tell you...and he will make a few really bad plays and people will say see over rated.

Remember Pollard was fast too. How did that turn out? I am sure some will explain why blue is different and better than Pollard.

Now I have to go and chat with Mafa fans who claim he is better than sliced bread.

Pollard was great here and he didn’t fully recover from his ankle injury until nearly 3/4s of his last season here.

He had a terrible injury in the playoffs.

He bounced back and was really good for the Titans last season.

He had 1k yards, 4.2 yards a carry, 5TD’s, and 41 catches.

Pollards full year of being a starter was on a bad ankle. (He still rushed for 1k yards too)

Sure. We still need a guy that we can rely on to absorb the 15-20 carries, the workhorse role. We don’t know who that is yet.

Exactly, the negativity is through the freaking roof. The guy didn’t even step in the field yet and everybody is like he’s the worst person in the league.
The team is coming off a 7-10 season while Philly won the SB. There’s a reason for the negativity. No one thinks bad of Blue, it’s just some of you are getting the wrong take. The guy was a 5th round pick and just because he’s fast doesn’t assure he will be a good player. The OP is going nuts over him and attacking everyone who isn’t sold on Blue, claiming they hate him. Some were going crazy over Darius Jackson who had 4.35 speed and he lasted only one season. The one concern with Blue is fumbles. He won’t be around long if he puts the ball on the ground. He has potential but we have a long way to go.

I would like someone a little more skilled than what we have sure.

But..

These guys are a dime a dozen.

It’s more difficult to find the do it all guy like Blue.

I have no doubt that if we can block well and get guys like Mafah, Sanders, Williams to the 2nd level they can do some work.

Blocking is key.

wait. what!? he is a WR now? better than cowboys WRs who have been in the NFL!? wow...how much kool aid have you drank from Jerry's cup? sound like a lot.

remember Pollard was fast too and we heard these exact same things when he was drafted and every year there after. how did that work out? I don't know. I go based on historical data that is 30 years in the making, as opposed to fantasy land projections.

and interesting, you are already building an excuse for why Blue is going to struggle. its the OL fault...and the WRs and TEs, because Gawd knows Blue is a HOFer already waiting to happen and if he fails its everybody else's fault but never Blue!
I am not sure what your objection is. I didn't say Blue was a WR. I said based on what I have seen he runs routes better than some of our WRs, and better than any RB we have had in a while. I also used the word potential because he is nothing until he proves it on the field.

As far as creating an excuse for him if he fails, man, that is way beyond what I intended with my comments. All I said is he has speed. Dallas needs speed, and he looks like he runs good routes for a RB. Trust me, I see his limitations and will wait to see him playing against NFL caliber players before anointing him.

. Since its been close to 30 years of misery now, the pessismists dont have to "prove" their pessimism anymore.
Right. I don’t know if it’s pessimism or a lack of trust. For me right now I feel like we had a good draft and I’m excited and hopeful. But I don’t trust them. I feel if you are not hopeful then it’s cool because the team has given us reason to not trust them. I think the term “Debbie downer” is more accurate when everything is great and someone is complaining just to complain. 30 years of this and complaining about it doesn’t fit the criteria of being a Debbie downer.

Don’t mind fans being skeptical at this point or critical. I mean I am skeptical and not happy at all.
But the personal attacks/name calling of players and over the top negativity is frankly embarrassing and makes this place barely tolerable.

I am shocked the leaders of that culture on this board have any following at all. Personally wish they would get banned or go away. It isn’t an ‘sports opinion’ to lie and blast a player personally. That should not be tolerated on a fan message board.

What’s funny is that if we win a couple playoff games next year you won’t hear a peep from them.
I hear you, brother. There's a fine line there. There are so-called fans that wish we lose, wish harm and even death on a certain player. After that last playoff loss to GB, I'm not the biggest Dak fan anymore. But since he is still the QB of our team, I will root for him. I would never wish him death like one here did. Believe it or not, that post is still up. We can wish injury and death on a player we don't like, but yet we can't say ___ on this board. Like I said, this board is backwards.

And I'm going to get in trouble for violating rule #13, but several here violate rule #4, #8 and #9 on daily basis.

I'm torn.

If he sucks do we blame the O-line or him?

Because both are being majorly hyped right now. I just want to know who to blame if/when he doesn't perform.
You think your torn now when the offensive line is dominant and he's breaking off runs like OJ Simpson.

You're going to get torn a new behind and be sent back to brokeback mountain where you came from.

Lol. Sorry guys couldn't help myself this guy is just a pimple on the behind of progress
