I have to say that this isn't the team I had hoped for. I'm glad they were able to pull out a win against Arizona, but this isn't a high caliber squad that we beat here. They didn't have David Johnson and they absolutely dominated us for almost three quarters. Fortunately they weren't able to execute well enough to put up points.

Our defense is showing a lot of signs of growing pains. I hope David Irving can help there when he returns in two games. Hopefully if we can get these secondary players healthy, we can put something together.

We need our offense to perform a lot better. Dak played well in the second half, but really only had a handful of nice plays where I think he got a lot of help. Dez despite his effort did not cross the plain, but that was marked as a TD. Then there was a TD on a poor coverage by AZ, helped by the play action.

I'm not sure what is going on with this defense, but this offense worries me more. The idea out there is that they'll be so conservative that things will work out in the end if we don't turn the ball over. The better teams we play, that won't be the case.

Question...

What team actually looks good? Especially in this conference?

Falcons look good but they should’ve lost to the Lions. Seahawks look bad so far. Green Bay hasn’t been impressive. Even in the AFC, the Pats should be 1-2 and the Steelers just got whooped by the Bears. The only team in the NFL that looks good so far is the Chiefs, in my opinion.

Still a lot of football to be played, teams are all sloppy. I expect to see a different product in October/November.

I think part of the offensive issues have several things going on. Nothing that can't be fixed or improved upon.

1. They are still a bit in preseason game mode, knocking off the rust.
2. 2 new OL in Collins and Green. Basically rookies starting, as because both were back ups and was injured last year, well Green for 2 years.
3. Teams able to game plan better with a year of film, but now time for Dak and Zeke and the team to make adjustment too.

All of these will come around. The rust should be knocked off by now, so the OL needs to gel a bit more. Linehan needs to adjust to how and what the defenses are doing different this year.

I’m gonna start considering September as just an extension of preseason....you just got to win and come out without injuries.

We looked rusty in 2014 until essentially the Seahawks game. In 2015 we looked rusty as wel but everyone was hurt before we knocked the rust off. Last season, we looked rusty until the Bears game which I believe was week 3 or 4.

I expect to know who this team is within the next week or 2.

I think we are still going a O-line transition. That takes time. Leary was a stud last year. Green isn't as good. Collins is going through growing pains as well. Our O-line play will improve in time I believe. Two out of five guys being changed is a big deal for any team on any O-line. Regarding the defense, we are going through growing pains there as well. Can't have that kind of a changeover on the back end and on top of that have the new guys be injured and get any consistency. I don't think we have nearly played our best football yet.

. They didn't have David Johnson and they absolutely dominated us for almost three quarters

Their offense absolutely dominated us for 3 quarters?

1st quarter? Yes

2nd Quarter:
6 plays, 15 yards
3 plays, -5 yards
2 plays, 5 yards

3rd quarter:
3 plays, 4 yards
6 plays 16 yards
3 plays. 54 yards TD
3 plays, 9 yards

4th Quarter:
16 plays, 56 yards FG
3 plays, -5 yards
9 plays, 85 yards(Downs)

One for the record books on how they dominated us, offensively.

You had to know that this win was going to be minimalized. Doesn’t matter who we play, if we don’t win by 21 and play a perfect game, then we got extremely lucky. Not too mention so and so didn’t play either. Oh boy, damn near forgot about that outlier.

We’ll hear it all week. We’re 2-1. On to another crappy team that just happens to be on our schedule.

I was with you in the first quarter. I was yelling at the TV and anyone that would listen that this defense might be the worst defense in the NFL and we might not win another game. Then Marinelli made a simple change and boom! 3 points through the next 3 quarters. A 3 man rush sacked him 6 times! The most we have had in 4 years.

I consider this a big win. Dak stepped up and put the NFL on notice that he is back and can burn them on air and ground if they focus on Zeke. We needed to see that and it was huge. WRs all made plays when needed.

Defense held tough when the ballgame could have been a blowout.

Special teams was extremely good as always - Jones is a Pro Bowl punter, Switzer looks the real deal at returner, and Frazier made a big tackle of Peterson on a punt return.

A good team gut-check win.

Based on many games being played this season nothing looks to be a sure thing. NFL has started off to a crazy start, who is good? who is bad? based on the outcome of games thus far this season who knows. Yes Arz has players missing, so does the Cowboys and we have a lot of young guys we are counting on some who missed most if not all of training camp because of injuries. I do agree the team is not playing as I hoped they would, they are struggling at times but they continue to fight.

FWIW, Falcons are considered the class of the NFC yet two of their wins came when the other team had the ball to win inside the Atlanta 5 yard line on the last play. Could easily be 1-2.

Main thing now is to stack up wins and be in playoff position come Thanksgiving time.

That said I have my doubts about this team, but same could be said around the league.

This is the argument none of these posters who throw this crap out there can answer..they think the nfl is full of these juggernauts that are out there.."this wont work vs the elite teams in the league" and all that nonsense.. its like they have no idea what is happening around the league..this is what the league is these days..parody..its a league full of weaknesses across the board, significant ones. As you mentioned, all of those teams look flawed, severely. Its also a very long season and we have a team that is going to improve as the season continues

Here's the Football Outsiders ranking of NFL defenses in 2016 (too early to say much in 2017):

1. DEN
2. NYG
3. ARI

The offense will be okay.

And we faced two of the best defenses in the NFL and the Cards didn't make it easy with the other circumstances you mentioned.

This team is REALLY young...especially on defense...this ia going to get better and better as the season goes.

Good read. Dak is being exposed to some backside pressure as Collins in particular learns. Also our receivers don't get very open causing him to hold ball to fit a tighter window. Great throw by the way to Noah Brown. He had to lead him perfectly as the defender was very close to Brown as he made the catch
