Star games kick into high gear ... The post-season all-star game schedule kicks into high gear this week with a pair of games getting underway later today. The East-West Shrine Bowl practices start in Orlando, while the inaugural Eastham Energy Classic gets underway in the Phoenix area. Of course, the key all-star game is next week’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, but at least in terms of future pro prospects, the Shrine game is the #2 all-star game. Indeed, the Shrine rosters feature a lot of second tier talent for the upcoming draft including QBs Pat Devlin of Delaware, Tyrod Taylor of Virginia Tech and Texas A&M’s Jerrod Johnson; RBs Evan Royster of Penn State and Da‘rel Scott of Maryland; WR Terrance Tolliver of LSU, DEs Bruce Miller of Central Florida, Cliff Matthews of South Carolina, Pierre Allen of Nebraska and Ricky Elmore of Arizona; DTs Marvin Austin of North Carolina and Notre Dame‘s Ian Williams; and OLBs Dontay Moch of Nevada and Chris Carter of Fresno State. Meanwhile, Mount Union WR Cecil Shorts heads an interesting list of small-school prospects in Orlando, while the Canadian school representatives are 6-9 Queen’s OT Matt O’Donnell and Calgary WR Anthony Parker. We’ll have full reports from the ground in Orlando from Paul Guillamette who is on the scene, as well as our annual post-game review.
