I haven’t posted in a while, so I thought I would just share my general outlook on the Cowboys (while listening to Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony).

I wished I had a plethora of cockiness when it comes to the 2009 Cowboys. It just does not seem to be there though. This team has shown similar flaws that we fans have seen in years past. Mainly, this team still has not shown that they can sink the eight ball. Even though Dallas bounced back well against Carolina, the loss to the Giants was just plain old inexcusable. When the big game arrives, they just don’t make the plays to win.

I really don’t like to rationalize, but I think part of the problem with Dallas’ defense is that there are many new faces there. However, even though there will be some adjustment time, there is no getting around the poor tackling displayed throughout the defense. The two-minute defense is in need of a major overhaul. There has to be better pass rush – the secondary can only cover so long. That said, the second half against Carolina was much better. Let’s hope that Victor Butler can continue to make plays. The one Pro-Bowl candidate on defense is the Rattler Jay Ratliff. Let’s hope Dallas can take the 2nd half play against Carolina and bring it to Denver.

This Dallas offense is capable of scoring 30 + points on anybody. Against Carolina, they shot themselves in the foot was too many times. Regardless, Dallas’ strongest unit is the offensive line! They are a mean, nasty bunch. Maybe the offensive lineman playing the best right now is Kyle Kosier.

Note to Garrett: You have a HUGE OFFENSIVE LINE! RUN THE BALL! ESPECIALLY INSIDE THE FIVE!

Needless-to-say, I went nuts on those two fade incompletions. Running the ball for a touchdown is a testament to the offensive line. It shows power and dominance. Dallas running backs must stay healthy though.

Special teams have made vast improvements thanks to coach Joe (DeCamillas this time, not Avezano). Buehler has proven to be quite an asset as a kickoff specialist. The coverage units are markedly better. The only black eye came on Felix Jones’ fumble. Crayton is reliable as a punt returner, but not a home run threat.

Felix Jones is right on the cusp of being added to the list of other electric Cowboys. By “Electric” Cowboys, I mean the players that you sit on the edge on wondering if he is going to go the distance. To me, the electric Cowboys are Bob Hayes, Tony Dorsett, and Hershel Walker. Emmitt Smith to me was more of a chain mover.

I thought Felix was gone for 80 when he went off right tackle the other night. The cut he made on Godfrey was sensational.

I did too...I just knew he was gone until he got tripped up in the secondary. Eventually, he will break a couple of those.

You lost me at Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony, yea it's good but it's no 1812 overture. How can I respect your post now? :) Jk, he was great and good post.
