ZONERS:

Can you believe what a Genius N.O. Saints Head Coach Sean Payton was when he came into Dallas with our play book and kicked our you know what?

Many of you Zoners, including myself wondered out loud "why?" did Mr. Jones let Payton leave. He should of been our head coach!:lmao2:

10 short months later and Payton looks like a GOAT! What is wrong with the AINTS? :bang2:

Zoners, are you happy with the job Coach Phillips and Jason Garrett are doing? Or do you still wonder why Payton is not our coach?

Who is the Genius now?

MR JONES.......that's who!

The Saints D is bad...what happened to them so fast? Gary Gibbs, where are you?

And Brees is trying to do too much. They look like an 8-8 team.

Everything broke just right for them last year. Schedule, injuries, etc. They were never as good as they looked. their D especially. Now its clear their O line is not as good as it looked.

Last year, the Bears exposed his outdated, archaic scheme. That kind of vanilla offense might have worked back in 2000, when you just had to get past teams like the Vikings to get to the super bowl, but the NFL has clearly passed Payton by.

Or maybe he just doesn't have the horses.

I'm not sure, right now.

I agree but their playcalling on offense last night was horrible, especially late in the game when they needed to mount a comeback. Little dumpoffs, screens, and short slants were not going to get it done.

Does Payton have so little confidence in Brees that he wouldn't allow him to throw deep? I didn't see the whole game but late in the game they didn't throw a single deep pass that I remember.

I blame the coaching for last night's loss, very poor playcalling and lack of adjustments. Payton seems to have fallen into the same trap older coaches do, playing not to lose. Fear will sap your ability to take risks or play smart.

Last year, he was a first year guy with nearly zero expectations on himself or his team. This year the expectations were raised very high and he is afraid they won't meet them so he is playing it safe, and they are losing. His strength last year, besides having the very favorable conditions that Burmfard mentioned, was that they had nothing to lose. This year they have a lot to lose and they are doing so.

NO frequently played from ahead last year. That can really help a defense out.

I think last year the saints a combination of lucky bounces and a ton of feel-good cinderella magic going for them. They really didn't have a ton of pressure on them to succeed as they had been just awful the year before and with what was going on at the time.

I think everything about last season for them was just opportunistic and emotion.

Their offensive line is worse than their defense. THAT is why they lost last night. With better protection, they could have outscored the Titans even with their defensive issues.

GROG?

Gibbs passive schemes are holding their players back. He's taking Jason David's aggressiveness away, and apparently he's got Hollis Thomas on a hamburger IV. This bend but don't break stuff is so passe...

With all the talk about the Saints as SB favs this year, It is hard to believe they were only 10 & 6 last year. They gave up a ton of points in 2006 and had four home losses. In three of those home losses they gave up 31 or more points.

They were a feel good story last year, but vastly overrated coming into 2007.

No WR speed and no Joe Horn. Defenses only have to fear Reggie Bush. Colston, while a big WR, does not command double coverage in and of himself.

Good points. And now with Deuce out for the year they will really key on Bush. It doesn't look good for the Saints this season.

Payton isnt a goat now, niether is Gibbs

last yr was an exceptional coaching job (read, smoke and mirrors)...the lack of talent overall is catching up with them now...they just dont have much

and they werent that great last yr anyway...it isnt like they went from being the 85 Bears to the early 80's Aints...they caught alot of teams off guard and used some imaginative game planning to get where they did

their OL, DL, LB and secondary are all very weak, and Brees is, and always will be limited in what kind of throws he will be successful at

Saints 2006 is pretty much the same as the Boys 2003. When the smoke is clear and the mirror is smashed, you see that there are a lot of holes. Deuce was a lot more important then many thought; Brees is flat out stinking; their O line is weak at the tackles, and their D is spotty at best.

Are you serious lol? Tank hasnt been with the team since the superbowl, that is aobut 7-8 months. You dont think the Bears had changed ANYTHING, especially after the patriots had practically every teams signals? Gimme a break dude, Romo said himself he is not going to pick Tank's head about the Bears D. :bang2:

I still believe Sean Payton will be a great football coach. Maybe they had some city karma driving their team last year, but really, Payton is a great offensive mind and he'll turn that team around.

BTW, given the choice of Wade and Payton, I'd take Garrett. :D
