I have been a cowboy fan for about 25 years and have always looked forward to the season opener with much anticipation. This offseason I learned of the existence of "the zone" and I will tell you that after months of following free agency, pre-draft, draft, minicamp, training camp, and preseason with you guys that I am uber excited for today. I want to thank everyone for not only disseminating information but providing insightful commentary on the state of our beloved Cowboys. Today is a day that we can lay down to rest our differences, the Henson vs Romo threads, the trade Ellis and Glover threads, and any other inflammatory thread titles. Ladies and gentlemen, the day has befallen us, the clock is ticking, we are currently undefeated, right now there is no NFC east divisional leader , the games are not decided on message boards or by Dr Z, or Theismann, or Hoge, but on the field of play. Thank you all and may this season bear a point of significance in the history of the Dallas Cowboys.

I was pretty close to posting a similar sentiment.

No matter the various issues the crew here argued, debated or discussed this off-season now we should all be on the same page in hoping this is a truly special season. I think it can be.

I see so many "experts" pick San Diego today and they are line favorite by 4.5 but it does suprise me that so few are willing to forget last season and look ahead. San Diego is a good team returning all its starters but 1 key guy is supended. Dallas was a bad 6 win team that replaced basically every non Pro Bowl caliber guy they could with a high draft pick or proven vet. I am optimistic that the signings were strong ones for the most part. Finally we will start to find out later today.

Another thing that is special is the crew we have here. There are always little mini-cliques and cultish circles in online message boards but we are as close as any site to being an extended family. Lets focus on that more and bicker less in the next few days as week 1 games wash over us like a warm day.

I am not going to keep score in predictions, opinions or preferences because the only winning that matters will be done on the field.

So cheers to a great season by the Dallas Cowboys and may we all enjoy it thoroughly.

I dunno, QD.

I could go another few weeks or even months w/o football. Baseball is entering the playoff season, and there's been some good tennis lately. And of course there is always the new season of Desperate Housewives to look forward to.

The season could get delayed til late October after the World Series and it wouldn't bother me a bit.

I enjoy reading post from everyone here and I have enjoyed the discussions and debates that have gone on. I like the way even the heated debates are kept civil and the comments are thoughtful and insightful. Sure they might get a little out of hand from time to time but it just shows the passion that we share for our Cowboys.

That is exactly how I felt when I found this forum. It is exactly why I think this forum is head and shoulders above the others. The people here can disagree and get along.
