Can we play a game and list these guy's bad plays and good plays this year off the top of our heads?

I'm trying to get some insight as to why this guy is so terrible people want to go through the process of getting 2 (not 1 but 2) starting safeties next year.

For bad, let's see: He climbed on the back of a WR in the end zone when Jenks held back on the tackle; he watch the QB as a WR went behind him against Detroit; may be a few missed tackles along the way and a-what some may call-semi-finesse style for a SS

For good, I remember quite a bit aside from his picks: Hit on Fitz to force an incompletion in this last game; TEs not killing us this season; hit on Pettigrew in the Detroit game to force an incompletion; pass defended against Kevin Boss in the end zone; pass defended against Mercedes Lewis on a triple move against the Jags; hit or Reggie Bush on 3rd down etc

Why should we just replace an above average Safety who's relatively young?

I maybe one of the few but I actually think we should keep sensy for atleast one more year. But I doubt we signs another 1 year contract. But Alan Ball needs to be replaced fast. And our defensive scheme or the way its being taught has got to go. Nobody on our defense look good other than Ware. How can Jenkins go from probowler to burnt toast in 1 year. Jenkins better step up before Scandrick take his job.
Scandrick has been playing like our best corner since Garrett took over so far.

i say we keep him for 1 more year....hes not that bad in my eyes

but ball has too go

Draft Patrick Peterson, move Sensabaugh to FS. Start Peterson at SS.

Sensy hasn't been bad. 4 interceptions, 13 passes defended, 2 sacks, and 69 tackles would be considered a good season to most NFL fan bases. He hasn't been fantastic by any stretch, but I think a descent pass rush and a warm body behind him at FS would raise his grade alone.

We've had a impossible time finding 1 (not 2 but 1) safety in the past ten years (outside of Hamlin for a while there)...what makes you think we'll be able to find 2 (not 1 but 2) safeties this year?

Sensabaugh was serviceable IMO. Hard to tell how much of his poor play was due to coaching and scheme (and Ball at FS)....he certainly showed he has the physical ability IMO. I think he could flourish under certain circumstances.

I'm not that low on Sensei but Ball has to exist stage left. Replace that guy post haste. He's all over the place out there. Bad angles... missed arm tackles... Please hit the eject button on him. (or put him back at backup cb......)

Ive always been a fan of sensabaugh. He nothing special but hes solid and consistent IMO.

Doesnt mean we should be complacent with him there but we have many higher priorities that need to be addressed this offseason.

I wouldn't.
Not until you get someone better. When he goes down, love him or hate him the middle of the field is (really) wide open.
I believe a DC can take guys like him and others and get much more from them.

Is this directed at me? Because this is my point.

I agree with this. Sensabaugh has actually had a decent year -- a slightly better season than last year, actually. While he's little more than a JAG, quite obviously we can live with him playing SS.

Alan Ball might be literally the worst starting player in the entire NFL, however.

Start the nation's best college CB in 10 years out of position?

LOL.

Minus the Sidney Rice catch in the playoffs last year, which was such a flukey mcfluke play, Sensabaugh played very well with one arm with Ken Hamlin back there.

We just need a better FS, and he'll be fine. I'd keep him and go after Antoine Bethea from Indy for FS.

No more CB converts...we need a true FS. I would've loved to have Antrel Rolle but he cost way too much.

It's probably too much of an overhaul to replace both from the starting roster. But we can't afford to keep Ball as the starter. He's a major liability with his tackling and is only average in coverage. I think if we can get a leader and smart safety back there that can make up for Sensy's issues and we can be serviceable enough. Could also use a better DB coach.
