Gerald Sensabaugh

Sensi is a pretty solid player. I think he'd be actually a bit better as more of a SS, even if he's not a great tackler. What he's not, is a big time playmaker. He'd look at lot better if he wasn't playing next to Danny McCray or whoever.

I think playmaker at safety is a real need this year in the draft...and I think this is a good year for them. I'd be surprised if someone like Rambo, Reid, or whoever, doesn't end up in a Cowboys uniform.

I like that Rambo kid...the couple of times I got to watch the Bulldogs play this season, he has looked good to me.

He's not even the best safety on the team. Williams is better.

Lots of whiffs from him yesterday. Does anybody actually like this guy?

We knew two years ago you werent going to be able to patch all the holes in a year. An upgrade at safety much like a few other places would be great.

He's a mixed bag. I think people forget what it was like when we didn't have a S who could matchup in coverage with a TE regularly. Then again, he's out of position a lot on tackles, and he's not overly physical.

Bottom line, he's a guy you can win with, and worthy of the long-term deal he eventually got. He contributes on what is now finally a pretty good defense we've got, but he's not a standout. It's a position ripe for an upgrade when we finally are deep enough that we can focus on doing so, but I don't think we move aggressively on S yet this offseason. We'll see how Church rehabilitates and what we've got in Johnson, first.

Right. Sensabaugh is a JAG. Nothing more

We need a ballhawk back there. A playmaker who QB's need to worry about

last ballhawk we had was md 26 in the 80's

if we had him on this team right now he would have 15 interceptions a year.

If we had him now, he wouldn't make it past the league's drug screening restrictions because of his addiction to stool-softeners. The guy's pushing 60.

Now, a *young* Michael Downs....then you'd be on to something.

McCray is out playing him so far. Sensy has been bumming it up

I don't think so.

McCray hasn't done much of anything.

Probably more fair to judge both safeties together as ones play affects the other...in general. We need a big play safety on this team. We have got to start creating turnovers as well as scoring points or we are not going to climb the mountain.

Agree here. Sensi is an ok guy, and its real hard to find a safety in the NFL these days who can do it all. We had a few hitters who couldnt cover the way they need to now.

I was real excited when there were rumors he'd come out in the supplemental. Would have been a great fit for a second or third rounder.

Agreed. McCray is way too visible. If you see a safety as much as you see him, it means he's getting beat.

I actually like McCray, but he's not an NFL calibre safety.

There will be at least 2 or 3 safeties that I'd rather have than Sensabaugh available for us in the 2nd or 3rd round of this years draft. McDonald, Vaccaro, Jefferson, Rambo, Elam, Lester.....take your pick. Absolutely no reason for us to not have a new younger and more talented safety next season.

Horrible at coming up against the run... In open space, you can forget about it!

Sensy is the worst open field tackler i have seen in this position for us and grabs at players like an alligator snapping at prey unsuccessfully. You need to get your hips and whole body into a tackle to bring someone down and arm strength is not enough these days especially when you are not an overly big physical guy like Sensy is.

He looks scared and afraid a lot of the time and does not have any intimidation factor about him which gives opposing offenses the confidence they can just run over him in the open field and out muscle him which is exactly what has been happening. Make no doubt about it that when other teams study us and do film before playing the Cowboys this WILL be brought up.

No way is he worth the money that JJ just gave him. I really hope we target this position in the draft as i am quite happy with our CB's right now and the safeties are the weak link in what is becoming a really good defense for us.

I questioned the signing years back and haven't seen anything since to change my mind. Definition of a JAG. I hope we draft a young guy early this year, a playmaking safety is the last link to having a great defense for years.

lol, this is what gets me about fans. I rarely agree with you, but do respect your opinions (you are likely right more often than me) but there was a play just yesterday where Maclin made no attempt to catch a pass because Sensabaugh was in striking range.

I garuntee you could find it on youtube with out too much work.

Yep I remember that play. Thought of it when I opened this thread

Sensy is an above average starting safety in today's NFL. Anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorant to the rule changes in the last decade or not paying attention to the position across the board.
