Did you see Tom Brady last week? he looked like a run of the mill QB - he was befuddled and confused - Bum Jr. will turn our talented Defense into the growling tiger it should be. Do you recall his Defenses at Buffalo? tremendous, but they were outdone b/c of their terrible offense. We have a good offense, we just need a defensive wizard like Bum Jr.

I'm so fired up for Bum Jr. that if he doesn't come , I will be devastated. :( And I don't get excited easily. IMO he is our cure all.

Well I mean in a positive manner, I tend to be a pessimist.
Paint - I just feel good about him and this, don't ask me why. However I do recal reading an article on him some few years ago and he sid how he'd love to be a HC again , b/c he knows what needs to be done differently.
I liked his Daddy and I like him.

Oooo devasted? That would suck.

So I guess this wouldnt be a good time to mention some of those lesser efforts his defenses gave in playoff/SB appearances. Like the opposition scoring 30, 40, 42 and 55. But we'll just write those off to being out-manned rather than out-coached.

Ok, ok.. just having a lil fun.... cause to be fair he has had at least 3 where the opp. scored under 20. And any number of others that were somewhere inbetween 20 and 30.

Well I like him as a DC...would be thrilled to have him as a DC...and although he was not terrible as a HC (his record is not bad nor great...actually similar to Bills) however I have heard some things that told me he was not the best HC...just did not seem to have control of his team.

With that said...his time with the bills, what can be said about the bills, it would seem they have had troubles in the FO for some time so maybe it was not him.

Maybe he has learned from his mistakes...I guess it could happen, it did with Little Bill.

I don't really know, but him as a HC still worries me a tad...I just know I would NOT be devestated if we did not get him.

I could live with going another year and hoping the HC candidates are better next year.

Hmm. I attended 4 games between the 98 and 99 season. Icluding the great december of 98 jets-bills game...

There offense was much better than you are giving credit. between the two quarterbacks they passed for over 3600 yards and 28 touchdowns. They had a 1300 yard receiver and an 1100 yard runner. That was 98. What is wrong with that? Flutie was magical that year. In 99 flutie slipped a little passing for 3100 and change and threw more picks...smiths numbers fell because of injury but johnathan linton, flutie and thurman thomas kept the numbers high and moulds numbers slipped a bit because of a resurgence from reed and the rookie peerless price...

THis team had good offense. There was an abundance of defensive talent on those teams. THey had those two tanks to play inside, ted washington and pat williams...

Wade phillips had all the talent he needed to win, he lost some talent to free agency in 99 but they were well equipped to win.

He also had talent in Denver and could not win there either.

So telling everyone else to get a clue is kind of empty.

Okay sorry if I don't get this, but...

Who's Bum Jr.?

Wade Phillips.

Recently Mort was on ESPN saying/speculating that Jerry would like Wade Phillips as the next HC if bill moved on.

I said this earlier that Wade could be a head coach possibility...

No one has said how Wade would deal with TO... would that even be doable?

Now that would be an interesting HC superstar WR combo.

Very well said. From the people I talk to around the league, they say Wade is a tremendous coordinator but a below average head coach. He struggles when he needs to make all the decisions but if he just focuses on defense, he's very good. Some people are just better suited to be coordinators and Phillips appears to be one of those guys. It would be a weak hire in my opinion. Now, if he's brought in to be the DC, then I'm all for it but not a head coach. He has had more than enough chances to prove himself in that capacity. And someone mentioned the Bills FO? Take a look in the mirror. Other than the Raiders and Commanders, the Cowboys FO under Jerry Jones has been the laughingstock of the league over the past decade. I'm sorry but playing college football at Arkansas and being wealthy doesn't qualify you to be a NFL GM in my opinion.

So our front office is worst than the lions, Packers, Vikings, Cardinals, 49ers, Browns, just to name a few.... LOL We were doing great til the last minth of the season, we just had a breakdown and i'm guessing from the Ellis injury but hey, maybe we should hire Matt Millen and sale our team to the Bidwells and get a plenty of Soldiers on our team

Yeah. Bum jr. had the troops real fired up. Up by 8 with 8 minutes left they manage to lose the game.... at home. SD had one of the top Os in the league this year -- they had 352 yards on O in the game -- about 13 off from their season average which got them 4th overall in the NFL. They played a very good offensive game.

Their D just sucked when it counted.

Open your eyes.

There "d" did not suck....if it weren't for his ******* safety dropping down instead of trying to return yet another Brady interception that game was over.

If we are going with a Defensive coach as our next HC, I would rather it be Ron Riveria. I think Pittsburgh is just waiting for Chicago to lose to offer him the job.

Dude - don't make a fool of yourself, their DB McCree decided to run a Brady INT back aand fumbled, or else they're playing today. Brady was poor v.s. Jr.

Have to agree with this. SD's defense collapsed just like ours.

May the heavens strike me down...

Theebs and I agree on something.

Wade Phillips is a buffoon.

He probably appeals to the "hill-billy" contingent. :)
