There was a previous incident, which may or may not have merit, but I suspect they will use that as grounds even if this last incident is dubious.

I think that would be true if it were a different woman making the other accusation, but since it's the same woman that has already given false testimony they would have to consider that the other accusation is false too.

Yeah my understanding is the February incident can only be used to expand the suspension for the July accusation, if the league ultimately determines something happened there. But the July incident seems flimsy at best.

It is a waste of time and energy to speculate on this topic. We all know that Mara will push the issue, but they have to have some evidence and that does not appear to exist. They can't suspend him for some other incident that might have occured when he was in college.

Let's just forget about this issue unless it get's some traction in the news.
I dont get the mara stuff, he doesnt have any more control than any other owner.... well maybe a little, but jerry
has more power than mara.
Goodell works for all the owners, he cant play favs or be against the cowboys.

Now about elliot, I think he told this girl that he would do this or that when he got his money, and then dumped her.
This girl is now determined to be a thorn, and is sticking him now.

There may be some truth to what she says, and it sounds like she is exaggerating things too.
She said way back then that there were other inncidents, the one that police got called on was
at the end of their relationship, or after it was over.

To me most all of it occurred before before he signed a contract. but since some did happen afterwards there is that.
Now the nfl has to investigate all claims, because if the dont or they miss something, then later on it comes out
they look bad, or like they overlooked on purpose.
So they have to check all this out and make sure nothing will come back on them later.

I dont think elliot will be suspended this year, or at all, but if they do find enough to suspend him, it will probably
be after the season is over.

Our discussion on every issue on this board is ultimately irrelevant. It is merely discussion.

This is no different than any other discussion. There is a lot of smoke boiling out of this so it is reasonable to infer the flames may start at any time.

The fact it might throw a wet blanket on the Cowboys surprising success this year is the cherry on top for Mara and his butt buddy Goddell.

If police don't press charges I don't understand how The NFL can try to play judge and jury. Get out of the punishment business. It's football I don't give a **** what they do off the field. Just win.

The cap penalty against the Cowboys and Skins does not happen without Mara.

The only "new" allegation against Zeke was a February incident; one that the Cowboys say they already knew about.

But my question is, that was before he was even in the NFL, so how can the league punish him for violating it's conduct policy?

It seems like the charges had no merit and the Police decided not to persue it. If there are no formal charges and no legal conviction how on earth can the Owners have him suspended? That makes no sense.
Rumors of another incident back in February...but just rumored.

50/50 right now, but they are looking under every rock and have probably reinterviewed all witnesses to try and get that one per cent they need for a preponderance of evidence.

There is wording in the rule about it, they covered their bases not that I think it will hold up in a court.

They can't..... but they say it can be used against him if they suspend him for the July incident which makes zero sense.....

I believe it is just a matter of time before Zeke gets suspended. I doubt there is little if any merit to the allegations against him but the witch hunt is on. Some media outlets are saying that the NFL has him in its sights as public enemy number one.

Mara seems to have Goodell's ear a hell of a lot more than Jerry does for some reason. The Giants need help to catch the Cowboys in the standings. The Giants have jettisoned their idiot Kicker for domestic violence so expect them to take the moral high ground and push for Zeke to be suspended for an exit ended period.

Zeke had not signed a contract when the alleged offenses occurred but they will probably not let that get in the way some of it was alleged to be post draft.

I hope I am wrong about all of this but you can see it coming from a mile away.

Just had this disscusion with a friend. I told him that he better in joy this while it lasts.

I hear ya, but Roethlisberger was never charged with anything and he was suspended. They don't care what the legal system says.

Roethlisberger should be in prison by the way
