Preseason games are on their way. Every pre season we hear about a vanilla offense, yet a lot of the plays are plays we see during the season. What are you looking to see from this offense in the pre season??

I can't respond, because I was not asked for my thoughts. :muttley:

Looking forward to see if the players do what they are supposed to do. Even though many fans, including myself, do not always know the exact assignments.

I am looking mostly at Trey Lance. As we all are. Hopefully most are rooting for him. We have some that want him to play poorly.
If he plays well, they will have their excuses, such as, played against scrubs, no game plan. But that works both ways.

Offensively the star of the show is going to be Trey Lance, and that may prove to be a heck of a show or a disaster at this point, but should keep us entertained either way.

Other than that I'm really just looking for guys who look like outliers on the field. Who can line up against a 2nd string base defender and not be stopped 1v1. The guys who truly jump off the screen at you are the ones to pay attention to. We see every year fans pet cats who have solid preseason performances not make the team because so many of those final roster spots come down to who can play special teams, contract situations, who they think they can sneak onto the PS, etc. I really don't get as caught up in the fringe guys in preseason like I used to because I think the 1000 reps they get in camp tend to outweigh the 50 snaps they get in the preseason when coaches are doing their evaluations, unless those 50 snaps are outstanding.

1. Hopefully get a good representation of the new kick-off schemes. Might be the only exciting thing happen.
2. How sharp will Trey Lance be?
3. How good are the number 3-and down WR's?
3. I know it's preseason, but how in or out of sync will the new defensive scheme be?
4. Penalties, i.e. will this be a cluster or an organized unit.

Vanilla offense ( u mean JG offense - sorry can’t let it go, LOL )

Yes , look for man up and beat the man in front as far as OL / DL is concerned . LBs , DBs swarming receivers , without assignment failures.

Most importantly no injuries !

Doesn't matter when our Offense is always near the top of the league

Pre-season Games:
  • No game planning on either side of the ball.
  • Very small percentage of the playbook is revealed on either side of the ball.
  • Reveals very little about what the team is or could be in the upcoming season.
  • Many players that look “great” in ps games are playing against players who will never play a meaningful down of NFL football. Can be “fools gold”.
Pre-season games are vastly overrated IMO. I recognize many fans enjoy them and I understand and respect that. I just believe what we see in PS games is not that revealing. Sometimes you can see an individual player’s potential but even that has to be weighed by who they were playing against.

My bad........ I thought this was going to be about dumbing down the offense even more so Dak could keep up.

1st preseason game can you move the ball put up some points and please avoid all these penalties that have dogged this team in the MM era .
