Getting Contracts Signed

Every year at this time I began to wonder about contract signings. I know we always wait till the last minute, but it seems awfully quiet this year. No talk from anyone about contracts.

Not being in the Dallas area I may miss some things. Have any of you in the area heard any contract talk?

Hate to say this but it's been reported that we've been talking to our 7th rounders for 2-3 days but no signing announcements yet. In fact it was only yesterday that I read we were now talking to Stanbuck. I mean how much negotiation can there be with our 4 picks in last 2 rounds? Although must admit if I were drafted in 6th or 7th round, I'd certainly want a SB just to have some money in my pocket to afford renting an apartment, buying clothes, food to live in Dallas so I'd want a good $25,000 for signing.

I want to kick myself for posting that. I was so excited when I read that e-mail. Turns out the informer was a wee bit premature.

At least I didn't guarantee anything. I said "might" and "if." Still the e-mail got me pretty jazzed too. I had my hopes up.
