I must admit I am on the fence with this offseason of restructured deals and keeping the core intact. At this very moment I am leaning towards why didn't the cowboys just cut bait and start to replace some aging core players with some fresh "change of scenery" type players. Before I start this little list let me emphasis I'm not saying the incoming player would be any better but sometimes a change of scenery can ignite a player that has not lived up to their respective potential. With that if the boyz could put the same focus on other positions in the draft as they have with the TE position man this team would be sitting pretty. Three TEs drafted after JW are millionares, pretty impressive.

The Rat Love what he has done and brought to the team over the years but for me his recent DUI should have left him on the street. Instead of resigning him cut him and take a wait and see approach. I would have liked to seen Dorsey brought in, younger, same type of physical body, and at this point not as injury prone.

Austin/this one is tuff but the last two years with him have been about injuries and drops when the team really needed the "quosa" number 1 receiver to step up and make a play. With the emergence of Harris and a host of WR available cutting bait here would have made some sense. DHB has in no way produced at the level of Austin so this would most likely be a downgrade but with the Harris and Bryant the team already has two possesion types on the roster not to mention the little guys. DHB could have brought some Alvin Harper to the team and another level of speed to this current group of WRs. I've heard it all with him as well he can only run one route and has hands of stone. Was Harper much different? For me Austin has turned into a hands of stone type of player the past two years so the team could have added some speed here for half the price of Austin.

I know this is only two players here and there could be several more but for me and my little opinion I would have gone a different direction with these two. Aww the life of a fan.

Give me a break. Every team has a mix of young and old, and we have a solid young core (Dez, Smith, Claiborne, Murray, Lee, Carter, etc). We don't have to jetison simply to get "younger" when you already have young cornerstones to build on. I'll never understand fans who want to jetison the experienced vets of the team simply to get "younger," when I don't really see a correlation between "youth" and winning the Superbowl. Heck, look at the Ravens - they are a fantastic mix of young and old, and as long as the Cowboys keep drafting fairly well, we will always have the same balance.
