I used to love G.I. Joe comics and cartoons, but this looks like a rental to me.

Looks like over the top action, corny dialogue and a massive CGI budget.

Can't wait!

Lots of cool Super Bowl movie trailers are up -- new Star Trek, Transformers 2, etc.

www.aintitcool.com has most of the links.

I'll be there for Star Treck. They totally went the wrong way with GI Joe. I would have loved a V for Vendetta feel to a GI JOE story. The stupid supersuits and black "leather" generic outfits were wrong for this. Oh well. The screwed up Transformers, might as well screw this up. My childhood is officially raped...just makes you want to hate Hollywood.

.....aaaaaand here come the complainers. What did you expect? Realism? It's freakin' GI Joe! Don't you remember the cartoon? The movie is basically an homage to that. Ridiculous, over-the-top, superhero-minus-the-powers-and-in-military-outfits-and-body-armor. Personally, I think it looks fantastic (for a mindless awesome action flick) and the casting of Christopher Eccleston as Destro seals the deal.

You're in the minority if you think they screwed up Transformers. How, pray tell, would YOU have done it?

I'm in the minority? lol Ummm no.

For one....DON'T hire Michael Bay. Pathetic storyteller and only does action well. Second, keep the personalities of the transformers from the cartoon. They pulled a Lucas Jar Jar with the dumb cd player transformer from the movie. The John Turrturo character?? HORRIBLE. All the transformers look like a jumpled mess...no personality in the designs. I can go on and on.

Expect realism?? No, not really. But a more serious take on it I guess. They could have done so much more with the terrorism aspect. Chris Nolan took a comic book and make it into a serious film. They could have done the same here. When you hire a hack director like Sommers who makes nothing but crud films Van Helsing, Mummy Returns what do you expect. Horrible cgi follws Sommers like stink on crap. Looks to be the case here to with the joes flipping around in those super suits avoiding missles. I would have chosen people like Cameron, Nolan, heck even Favreue would have done well. Sommers has never made a good film (the first mummy was his best and that's not even "good" just an ok popcorn flick).

All the Joes look alike in the black outfits. No personality whatsoever. The cartoon's were all about personalities making each character different. They'd definitly would have to change a bit since some of the characters were over the top.

You never saw Destro without the mask. I think you may by the end of the film see him in a mask with the nano bot technology or whatever it is he uses in the film. He was a big butt kicker in the cartoon, not a skinny dude with big ears. At least snake eyes and storm shadow are sorta close.

You could, but that wouldn't mean that you're in the majority. Just because a bunch of diehard fanatics that still retain every ounce of knowledge of the original cartoon weren't impressed, doesn't mean the general moviegoer wasn't pleased. Most people enjoyed it.

I agree with you about Turrtoro's character, but I think they did a serviceable job developing some of the characters. I think it's obvious that it was intended for multiple films, giving far more time to complete a story. There are far too many characters and variables to completely develop a proper storyline in one film.

Either way, to say they "screwed it up" is premature. Transformers should be judged as a whole, not by it's pieces IMO.

Im a diehard sorta (just grew up on the cartoon and had the toys) but not they type that complains about changing things from the original. In alot of cases i understand the need. But when there isnt a need and they do it just to fit the story they made I dont get it. They changed the whole origin story...they whole story of the allspark. All of that is totally different from the cartoon but i didnt gripe too much. It was the other stuff that made me not respect the movie.

When i say screw it up in the since it failed to be a good FILM. Michael Bay doesn't make good films. If you want to make a good Transformers film, you don't have BB pee on someone...that man, that crushed me seeing they took the content as a joke..I just remember sitting there thinking "OMG"...Bay just pulled a Lucas, you don't have multiple Jar Jar characters (cd player transformer, Turturro, the hacker guy), you don't have Prime bumbling around in a background crushing a bird bath and saying My Bad...HORRIBLE..., jazz isn't a steryotypical hip hop dude...when you make a movie character even dumber than his cartoon character...thats just bad, asside from Sam and his girlfriend, all the characters were underwhelming. If you're going to make a movie from a comic or cartoon...they characters should have the same ore more charm. When it's less, you've failed.

As for Transformers, I'm someone who has seen it enough and can go without ever seeing it again. I like some of it, hate others. As a Bay fan I was pretty disappointed actually. Turturro, however, was one of the best parts about the movie. I love his character. Easily the best human. Outside of the 2 leads and his parents, and Turturro, all the other humans were a complete waste, IMO.

I liked the human characters. Shia is a very good actor. Megan Fox can star in every movie as far as I am concerned. That hottie blonde was nice eye candy as well. I liked incorporating the soldiers. It was a nice little side story to see the one make it home to his family.

I'm getting pretty sick of Hollywood trying to tie in some terrorist angle into their movies

like how they did in "IronMan"

oh my goodness

Well, you do know that Cobra is "a ruthless terrorist organization, determined to rule the world", right?
