The Giants are actively considering a move to the 3-4 this season.

They definitely have plenty of linebackers for the switch, but Osi Umenyiora, Michael Strahan, and Mathias Kiwanuka are all on the small side for 3-4 ends. It's more likely the Giants will install some new packages but maintain the 4-3 as their base defense.

The Giants dont have the right LBs to make it work. Nor do they have a 3-4 DT or SS to play it well.

You think Ellis is making a stink about the 3-4????
If this happened to the Giants Strahan would be crying like a baby.

in other words they are considering packages that will have Stra, Osi and Kiwi on the field at the same time!!! ESPN likes to complicate things so people dont feel like they are getting ripped off paying for inside info!!!

Yep. It's about how to get the best pass rushers on the field at the same time, not switching to a 3-4 as ESPN would have us believe. Good pointing that out MONT17.

Um... Linebacker is actually a weak spot for the Giants.. they only have two legitimate starters.. oh and no one to play the nose

If New York were truly going to make this transition it would have started happening in FA and the draft. They don't have the personel for the switch, and would have made aquisitions earlier in the off-season to start the transition.

Like an earlier poster said, it's probably closer to adopting schemes to get their best pass rushers on the field in certain passing situations. Not an earth shattering revelation, as most teams do the same thing. However, the Giants are typically very good at getting pressure with their front four alone. I'm not sure I would do a lot of tweaking to a formula that has been proven to be pretty successful. Osi and Strahan are a pretty formidable force manned up on DE's. Tweak the alignment too much and these guys might get swallowed up in the match-up.
