Okay, well, not yet. I guess it is a weee bit early for that. Getting sick of the Giants opening at night and against the Cowboys. 4 of the first 6 games are night games for the Giants. Hate it!!

Looking forward to it of course.

Now for the game:

I know the Cowboys are strong on the OLine. It seems like they are going with what they have at RB which could be anyone with the line they have. I am familiar with their WR's.

Defense is my question. Every time I look at the Cowboys on the defensive side, I am never really impressed. But they do seem to play well at times and that could rollover to a few weeks. How is Sean Lee doing as he is a key piece of their defense.

How do you see the defense covering Beckham and Cruz? Zone? Man to man? I am guessing how many teams cover them will depend on how much Cruz shows he is back. Which I am sure he won't be fully for a while. But it will be interesting seeing both of them out there at the same time.

Just wanted to get a little discussion going on the game. Obviously, we will be able to discuss more as it gets closer but interested in initial thoughts about the teams and how you guys feel about starting against the Giants, again.

What you should HATE is how often the Cowboys have been beating the Giants in Dallas or in NY :)

Dallas has won 4 straight against NYG
Dallas has won 4 out of 5 in NYG
Dallas has won 2 straight at home against NYG
Dallas has won 5 of the last 6 against NYG

Giants were very formidable when their D has been great, i havent kept up with there offseason, i do know they signed Harris which will help on special teams.

As for our defense, our secondary is weak at the moment, and alot depends on how long Hardy will be suspended, if at all.

I would think we would do everything we can to slow/stop Beckham and then just try to handle the rest. Eli always seems to have his best games against us so we always have to account for that. I don't really fear your guy's running game. If our defence can improve from last year I think we can win this game without too much trouble in the end, but not having Hardy (likely) for this game is going to hurt... bad. Like I said, Eli always seems to shine against us and having Hardy there potentially would have helped that.

Overall however, I think the single biggest thing that will make our defence better is if D-Law comes along and can be a good player for us. We got a pretty meh secondary, so we really need that line to come together.

In the end I think we win a pretty close game, not nail biting close but a typical competitive Giants/Cowboys game, that we've seen the last few years.

The Giants concern me this year. I dont know, it just feels like a year they go 4-4, one win streak, one losing streak, getting hammered in a few games by 30 points, then sort of stumble into a win or go home game for a wildcard spot. Then march into the playoffs, and Super Bowl beating everybody by 2 or 3 points like they planned it all along.

LOL, before I even opened this thread I though, "He's going to talk about his WR's".

How did I know that? Because that is about all you got on that team that really stands out in any way. Defensive line? Nope. OL? Nope. Secondary? uh-uh. QB? Not so much really. RB? lol.

I mean really, what else could he talk about? Coughlin's depends undergarments?

The NYG have the ability to be better than they were last year. Usually-- our opening night games with them are barn-burner type of games with tons of points going on the board.

I could se that again. The NYG strength is their deep passing game with Cruz and Beckham Jr. Eli usually saves his most efficient passing games for Dallas as well. That strength matches up with our biggest weaknesses-- mediocre pass rush and sub-par secondary play. I could see Dallas giving up some big plays for sure.

That said-- Dallas is overall the better team. This is our home opener and I can see our OL wearing down the NYG D in the 2nd half.

I like you am tired of playing the Giants on Sunday night, in the opener. We have pretty much dominated as of late. I would have preferred a different opponent, but so be it.

Defensively, Dallas will double Beckham. Cruz is not going to be playing in the game. You will be lucky to get him back by the 6th game. He won't be the same, trust me. Maybe next season he will be closer to form.

Just like you aren't impressed with our defense, we aren't impressed with your O-line. I expect a better pass rush from our guys this time around (rookie DE/Demarcus Lawrence). If Eli has no time, we know what happens. I don't really see you guys running on us either.

I think that Dallas will win this game because I don't think that you have the defense to stop Dallas and our Offensive line.

The 'Boys did fairly well last year with several DL injuries, no Lee, no Mo, a young OL, and some rookies on D.

The OL will be better this year due to experience and chemistry.
The front 7 will be better due to recovery from injuries.
The secondary will be better because of the DL.
The dual-threat O will be fine without Murray.

I see another 12-4, with only one loss in the division; I don't think it will be to the gnats.

Cruz (and Claiborne) will not be playing in this game. It's as devastating of an injury as there is this side of microfracture surgery.

Agreed. I think both players will be put on the PUP list to start the season.

I tend to agree, and think we have a very good chance to go 12-4 again, but our divisional foes always seem to play us incredibly tough and one of them always seems to sneak out some kind of lucky win they had no business winning. Like the Commanders game last year.

Greg Hardy said that Eli sounds like a rubber chicken squeaky toy when he gets sacked. He plans to break his squeaker.

How do you honestly feel about facing the defending NFC EAST CHAMPS?
