I was listening to a story about Odell and his contract.
The Giants may not re-do the contract this year as they have 2 years left on it.
But may adjust in 2018.

Looking at the Giants high priced players for 2018.
Eli - $22,200,000
Oliver Vernon - $17,000,000
Janoris Jenkins $13,000,000
Damon Harrison - $9,600,000
Cromarte - $8,500,000
Pierre-Paul - $17,500,000
Brandon Marshall - $6,500,000

Odell is set at a mere - $8,459,000 for 2018.
But if they re-do the final year will be a lot higher.

So what I'm wandering to in this is - Are the Giants going into their CAP problems in 2018?

certainly not looking good for them from a CAP perspective but on the flip, it appears the money they spent of defense last year yielded some good results. Paying big dollars to FA has been a losing proposition of late but they seemed to have chosen wisely. Also, I think Brandon Marshall was a good signing as well. Their bigger problem is post-Eli, which one has to think is not that far off.

The Gnats certainly enjoyed one of their best seasons in recent memory with an 11-5 record in '16. In fact, it was the first time they reached double digit wins since '10, whoopee. Anyway, with some expected salary trimming, the Gnats should be close to $35 million under the salary cap by the time free agency begins. It’s not like last year, when the Gnats were around $50 million under the cap. They're going to need it, because they have some key decisions to make. Hankins, Pierre-Paul, Robinson & Jerry are key free agents. The Gnats could also benefit from locking up Pugh, Richburg & Beckham long term. No doubt, they'll be ready to haunt "we" us yet once again.

OBJ is in the same exact situation as ZMartin........ they both had their 5th year options picked up so they are under contract thru 2018....... if they holdout they can hit with huge fines and bad PR

NYG and DAL will take care of both guys but there is no hurry........ OBJ just got a huge shoe deal and the Giants know it..... they will max out thru Eli's career but they aren't in any cap problems...... they are 25m under the cap next year already without any cuts or restructures...

I doubt Cromarte is on the team next year. He'll be 32 in 2018 and they recently just drafted a corner high. Another offseason where they can add a corner for cheap, and well they are only on the hook for 2m if they cut him if I'm looking at the chart correctly.

Giants will not be carrying all of these players in 2018 at that cap number. Eli's numbers are super inflated. He is a bottom half QB at this time and he is eating a significant percentage of cap.

The Giants won't cut Eli until they are sure he can't play anymore, or they find their Dak. That's a hell of a lot easier said than done. I think the Giants have a one year window, or maybe two with restructures to try to win another title. After that, I see them dropping like a rock in a deep well.

Read an article on Webb earlier. Coaches son that's supposed to have quite an arm on him. Still pretty vague on his talent tho. 3rd round to our 4th maybe. Hope not - i like them better with Eli.
