Why is a dislocated elbow a 2 week injury and Urlacher's dislocated wrist is the whole season?

Because the term "dislocated" is a broad ranging term. Some dislocations with no additional damage can be popped back into place and it may take 1-3 weeks for the swelling and pain to subside.

In other situations, dislocation can include ligament damage, muscle damage or tears, broken or fractured bones, etc.
