TAKEN FROM A GIANT FORUM: We Can Beat the Cowboys
gidiefor : 8:47 pm
The key to this game is playing to our strengths and attacking the strengths of the Cowboys.

The Cowboys beat us statistically in every offensive area but the Running Game -
where we are 6th in the league (138 yds/game)
and they are 10th (127.9 yds/game)

we are also slightly ahead of them in time of possession
(32 + mins v 31 + mins)

and we are ahead in First Downs made
(67 1rst Down - 28% v 49 First Downs 22%).

In every other area of the offense: Pts, Pass yds and Total Yds - they are light years ahead of us -
(2nd v 7th in Pts, 3rd v 15th in Yds, 3rd v. 21st in Pass Yds)

Their Offensive Line is Bigger than our Defensive Line.
They have Four Players with more than 2 Touchdowns to our 1
(Barber 7, Owens 6, Witten 5, and Crayton 4 v Plax with 8 TDs)

But Both teams average 4.6yds/play
The Giants have a more agressive Defense with multiple Sack Makers than the Cowboys
(Umenyiora 8, Tuck 7, Kiwi 4, Strahan 4, Ross 2, Robbins 2 v Ellis 7, Ware 6)

Our Two common Opponents were the Dolphins and the Eagles -
they gave up twice as many points to those teams than we did -
while scoring twice as many points than we did with each:

Cowboys 38 Eagles 17 Cowboys 37 Dolphins 20
Giants 16 Eagles 3 Giants 13 Dolphins 10

I therefore conclude the following:

We have to favor stopping the pass to stopping the run with the Cowboys -
They are far more dangerous and high octane with their passing game and have only one rusher who ran 100 yds once this season (Barber) -

this means the 4 aces have to hem Romo in on the sides and keep him in the pocket - and possibly sack him when they can -
and it means Owens, Whitten, Crayton and Barber have to be accounted for on every play.

The Giants can not hope to outscore the Cowboys in a passing slugfest - there is just no way that's going to happen - the Giants have to grind it out -

we also need to wear the Cowboy Oline out - that can be accomplished by forcing them to run -

we need turnovers and constant disruptions to their passing game - and we need to have a stong day running the football - do that - and we will win.

I don't see that happening. We've worn out other teams except for one this year. Also, I believe we have not given up 100 yards rushing to any individual RBs and have only given up two rushing TDs so far. Our defense is more suceptible to passing than running and since Eli has been struggling and we have pretty good run defnse, they better hope for some miracles.

attack the strengths to defeat an opponent, never heard that one before, guess that's what happens when you don't have many weaknesses

getting to Romo is easier said than done, the Eagles couldn't, and they were 3rd in the NFL in sacks entering the game

btw, after wk 1, it looked like Plax was well on his way to beating TO in TD receptions, he's had 5 in 7 games, while TO has had 6 in as many games

Wear out the OL by making them run?

Uhh, call me crazy, but by running at them and mauling, you wear out the DL real fast.

The OL gets to "fall" forward out of their stance and hit people, not backpedal and worry about guys running at them.

Here is the key to beat Dallas:

The Giants fans might run with this, watch out.

If the Giants have at least 1 more point than Dallas, there is a good chance they win.

well unless they rotate their d-line like crazy which I don't think NY does as much as most teams

lol, this guy is obviously an amateur, or we are that good that he can't find in chinks in our armour to talk about

Maybe because we score more? Just saying....

While they are trecking down the field getting some first downs... we have already scored.:D

Who cares what Giants fans have to say? They have every right to their optimism just like we do.

The one Giant website I check out daily for any info of interest (not interested in posting on it) frequently discuss best way to stop the Cowboys. Of course Romo's name is constant source of concern for them.
Admit I am surprised that, while many are homers/hate Romo, etc. there are others who acknowledge he's a great QB and better then Eli. One poster mentioned that he hoped Eli made the pro bowl and wondered what his chances were. Several posters immediately responded that Romo & maybe Favre were locks so only 1 QB position would be available, etc. They may hate Romo whom many refer to as Homo but many of them have a high level of respect for his QB play.

Now Extremeskins show no such respect but post a lot of derisive stuff about him. Amazing how much he's hated but sounds like a lot of jealousy/envy towards his success and the fact he's the Dallas Cowboy QB.

OK. I know how to beat the Patriots. Make sure Moss, Welker, Watson, and Stallsworth don't catch any passes, and Maroney is tackled immediately after getting the hand off and Brady is sacked on everyplay. That's all it takes. Really. Not much to it.
