I was just about to say that it seems like we are the only team losing players before I saw this. I still have heard almost nothing about any Commanders being injured besides Rogers back (which is probably a precaution.)

THen I think the Commanders are pretty much injury free and I see this on Jim Molinaro:

Giants' injuries mount

Giants are not sure how long lineman Chris Snee will be out with a knee injury as they look to block out health problems.

ALBANY - The Giants were expecting to be a deeper team this season. They just weren't expecting to have to tap into that depth so soon.
A week and a half into training camp, several key players have been forced to the sideline with injuries. The most serious appear to be a knee injury to guard Chris Snee, and backup running back Derrick Ward's broken foot.

Ward, who apparently fell while walking from one meeting room to another on Monday afternoon, will have surgery tonight. He is expected to miss at least a month and likely will not be ready for the Sept. 10 opener. Snee had an MRI yesterday and doctors decided against surgery.

"I'm sure he'll be ready well before the regular season," Accorsi said.

But Tom Coughlin didn't sound so sure the 24-year-old Snee, a 6-2, 314-pounder who played near Pro Bowl level last season, would make a quick return. Coughlin was vague when asked if his return was days or weeks away.

"That's something I don't know," he said. "We'll have to see how fast we can get him back. It will take a little bit."

If those were the only injuries, the Giants might not be so worried. But on Sunday night, a dozen players were on the sidelines in various states of pain. The Giants also were missing RB Brandon Jacobs (irregular heartbeat), LB LaVar Arrington (knee), LB Carlos Emmons (burner), WR Sinorice Moss (quad), DT William Joseph (bruised leg), RB John Flowers (hamstring) and TE Visanthe Shiancoe (knee). Offensive lineman Lewis Kelly (foot) already is on injured reserve, and LB Brandon Short (knee) and S Will Demps (knee) can only practice once per day.

Yesterday, at their lone practice, they were without Moss, Emmons, Joseph and Arrington, who has swelling in his right knee, the same one he's had two surgeries on in the past two years. Jacobs is being carefully monitored by the trainers because of his heart. And Shockey remains limited while he fights through post-concussion syndrome.

"It's not good when you look over and see a lot of guys out of practice," center Shaun O'Hara said. "But we still have quite a bit of time before we play our first official game. I think we'll be ready for it."

In the meantime, as Coughlin said yesterday, "One man's misfortune is another guy's opportunity." The injury to Snee has brought Rich Seubert back to the first team for the first time since he broke his leg in 2003. The linebacker injuries have opened the door for former starter Reggie Torbor and third-round pick Gerris Wilkinson. The injury to Moss has given Tim Carter the inside track on the third receiver job. And the running back injuries have given an undrafted running back from Washington, James Sims, an opportunity.

With the chance that Ward could be out for a while, Accorsi admitted the Giants may look into acquiring another running back. Former Giant and Coughlin favorite Mike Cloud is a possibility. They could also go with kick returner Chad Morton in a backup RB role.

The Giants head into their exhibition opener in Baltimore on Friday with a patchwork lineup - not a big deal considering starters weren't likely to play more than a quarter anyway. The bigger deal is the practice time so many players will miss.

"This is why I hate training camp," GM Ernie Accorsi said. "Because people get hurt."
