OK.
Also, how is an OUTDOOR stadium going to be louder than an INDOOR stadium? Even if the roof's open, it's still more enclosed than that air-conditioner. Just saying.

Looks like a stadium in need of being torn down, not one that was just built.

As an aside, anyone remember the NY Times critique of our place? Didn't trash Cowboys Stadium, but came awfully close (can't remember if it was an architecture review or what). Can't wait to see their opinion of this place LOL.

Report: Giants' Rolle wants new turf looked at

NYPOST.COM STAFF
Posted: 5:47 PM, June 17, 2010

Antrel Rolle is afraid of the New Meadowlands Stadium turf.

Two days after Giants teammate Domenik Hixon tore his anterior cruciate ligament during the first football drills on the new field, Rolle told ESPN.com the turf needs to be checked out.

"I don't know what it was," the safety said. "My feet were burning at the bottom on the turf. I was slipping on each and every play. It just didn't feel good to me at all. I can't lie to you about that. I am not one to really complain or make excuses or anything but they should definitely look into that as far as playing on that field in the future during the season."

Rolle said he watched Hixon get hurt and told the website: "He didn't make a cut or anything. It just got caught in the turf."

Rolle wasn't the only Giants player to voice concern over the playing surface at the new $1.6 million.

"I thought it was real slippery," wide receiver Steve Smith said. "We were all slipping and stuff. Hopefully it settles in when more people do stuff on it."

Jerry Reese said the turf was not to blame for Hixon's injury.

"It could have happened right here on this grass field,'' the GM told The Post.

FieldTurf spokesman Chip Namias said, "Believe me, if they felt the field had anything to do with the injury, they'd be screaming about it.

"It needs a couple of weeks of activity to be broken in, to settle,'' Namias said.

Jets players who practiced at the stadium for the first time Wednesday did not express any worry.

It looks a lot like a parking garage.

It might be ultra-nice on the inside, but it is really ugly from the outside.
I likey the comparison to the central ac unit as they certainly resemble one another. The outside is B*U*T*T U*G*L*Y and home to a team I hate to boot.

Oooookay.

A company spokesperson admits that the field takes "a couple of weeks of activity to be broken in", but also implies that a season-ending injury had nothing to do with the field which hasn't been broken in yet.

That makes sense.

Have the Giants/jets EVER played in NY?

Yes. The Gmen at Yankee Stadium and the Jets at the Polo Grounds and Shea.

Let the Giants excuse-making begin!

LOL @ them acting like they're playing on the old surface of the Vet.

Giants played in the Polo Grounds as well until the early 50's.

East Rutherford, NJ is not that nice.

Has nothing to do with how nice the area is aesthetically. Construction in the NY/NJ area is ridiculously expensive due to teamsters/union costs. The $1.6 billion for the stadium in NJ is roughly the equivalent of $750 million or so down south.

I'd bet you anything that Arrowhead is louder than Jerryworld.

funny I heard the same thing about Texas Stadium until I went there in 2008 to see them play the skins and it was like a baseball crowd in April.

You must have bad hearing. The crowd noise against the Skins last year was deafening.

On top of that, baseball crowds in April can also be pretty loud, depending what team it is. Turner Field was upside down in the games I went to in April this year.
