Why would America "still" want us to be its team? I doubt it wants to be represented by a perennial loser. France might want us though....
You use the term "fan" loosely.:laugh2:ilovejerry;1946882 said:You have to be the angriest Cowboy fan yet
The Patriots have a fairly good argument though if they are making that claim.sago1;1946123 said:Why get upset? Everybody except the idiots know who is really America's team. The Cowboys' are America's team and they prove it by being the biggest NFL football draw. That's why they always play the max games they are allowed in prime time. That's why their QB's football jersey has been the best selling jersey since Nov 06. That's why TO, Witten & Barber's football jerseys are among the top 10 best selling jerseys.
We've seen the Colts call themselves America's team, the Patriots, the Packers & now some idiots in NY doing the same thing. Let them claim all they want cause they know nothing is further from the truth.
Uhmm no they aren't.gr8slayer;1947249 said:The Patriots are closer to being America's team than the Giants are.

WoodysGirl;1947258 said:Many teams can claim, but it'll never be the same. There's only one America's Team and that's the Cowboys. Instead of hijacking another team's nickname, the other 31 teams and their fans should come up with their own.
Radar56;1951137 said:Let's give them some credit. They had a better game plan, they made half-time adjustments to stop Marion Barber, and their defense intimidated Romo (like they did to Garcia, Farve, and Brady). The Giants have a history and tradition of playing hard-hat, smash-mouth defense. Throughout their entire history they were never a high-scoring team. Their defense is the real deal. Also, they are a no frills team: no cheerleaders, no goofy mascot, no c&w singer kicking off the game, and no movie star QBs causing media distractions. All they do is play football. And, even in the two games we won, they played us hard. With a bounce of the ball, they both could have gone the other way. Parcells would have brought some of this to us, but Jerry canned him for losing a game he got us into position to win. (He didn't fumble that snap!) Oh, did I forget to say "no owner interference"!
I say the Giants have earned the title of "America's Team". Like us, they too have fans everywhere. Three cheers for the Red, White, and Blue!

It's hilarious to me the reaction I get when I refer to the Cowboys as "America's Team" when speaking with non-fans. They go NUTS.....so I do it as often as possible when talking to haters.
I think that's why everyone seems to want to pilfer the nickname. They know it drives fans of the REAL America's Team up a wall.

we just have to take it for a year

If you read the article you will see what I am talking about. Its a little less than 3/4 of the way down.
