I've been reading all this stuff about the Gmens pass rush. WAAAAAAAY OVERATED!. OMG not even funny.

Ok they had a great run. They got lucky to beat us( I will say this till I die) but they did play really good against the Pack and Pats.

But they are not nearly as good as people think they are. I remember seing them over powered by our Oline Badly not once, not twice but all three times. In the second half the Gmen steped up but They didnt dominate us like they did the Pats.

They just dont scare me...Not at all...Bring them on. another year for Columbo, Gurode, Kosier( lol) BIGG and Flo and we should be just fine.

I dont know call me a homer if you want..

i think we were the only team their pass rush sucked against. but to say they suck because out o-line shut them down 3 times is ludacris

I agree with this a bit. Of course their pass-rush is very good, but I think the idea was overblown. I think they basically had a few things break their way in the playoffs, but people don't like that explanation so they try to pin it on something else. Here, you couldn't really pin it on Eli or their offense. And their secondary was mediocre. The obvious choice then is their pass-rush which is pretty good.

From a historical perspective, they were tied for the 9th best "adjusted sack rate" for all teams since 2000.

I think the 4th quarter of our Divisional game was more on us than them. That O-line was pathetic down the stretch. They were just standing there letting the D-line run past em at the snap.

He never said sucked. They were a bit overrated though. The led the league with 53. That was just 7 better than the Boys and they also had a 12 sack game against the Eagles.

It's not just about sacks, it's about pressures and in the games I've seen from them, considering the fact mostly they have just a 4-man rush........their rush>>>>ours.

Well I brought this up in another thread. I would really be suprise if we were 3rd in sacks but in the bottom half in pressures. If someone has pressure stats and shows we were in the bottom half in pressures I would like to see. That would be very interesting. I just cant believe we can get to the QB better than 29 other teams but we cant pressure the QB that good.

That's the thing. I would like to see some stats on pressures. I just dont believe they was 7 sacks better than us but that much better on presssures. I watched everyone of the Cowboy games and a lot of the Giant games and I just didnt see them pressuring the QB any more than we did.

You can't discount the Giants pass rush like that. It was the consistent rush that caused the o-line to eventually tire out and break down. The key was the depth they had to sub in guys to give the continuous nonstop pressure. Those guys gave it their all and eventually tired the o-line out which resulted in Romo being frazzled... Yes, our o-line stopped them in the regular season. But when it really counted the most, the G-men pass rush stopped Romo and company....

Personally, I think it's our OL that's way overrated.

We struggled to run the ball when we really wanted/needed to run it.

I think the pass protection is also overrated...a lot of the credit goes to Tony Romo himself, his quick feet and ability to get rid of the ball. The Giants got plenty of pressure on him...sacks don't tell it all.

Put a QB of average mobility back there, or worse, put Brad Johnson back there, and I think our OL would look slightly above average in the NFL.

They lead the league in sacks. They now have super bowl rings.

That is some pretty good stuff and you have to give them credit just based on that alone.

I agree, you can't discount the Giants rush. In the second half of that Giants game there were times we looked helpless series after series. Their pressure was overbearing and they made our Oline look low grade. It also didn't help that they gave Gurode the yips and he was snapping the ball all over the place or frozen in terror.

Sometimes things roll your way. I don't hear anyone here complaining about Staubach's "lucky" Hail Mary to Drew Pearson, but I do hear Steelers fans tell me that Dallas was "lucky" that Neil O'Donnell gifted them the Superbowl with gift-picks right to Larry Brown. To me, Dallas won and that is all that matters.

If lucky and overrrated are your opinions, well, this is a message board so you are more than entitled, but count me in as wanting the "Luck" and an overrated D-Line tag, because opinions and theories don't change the ending score or make those Giants' rings shine any less bright.

If non-Cowboys fans bent over this far to discredit the Cowboys, assuming we would have won the Super Bowl, this forum would explode with indignation and scorn.

These comparisons kind of remind me of the spurned lover trying to create reasons to hate the new boyfriend. "He's short, he's fat. He has a lower-paying job, etc."

The fact is HE has your ex-girlfriend not you. And you desperately want her back.

The Giants beat us, guys. Whether it was luck, the product of our clumsiness and lack of preparation, etc. THEY BEAT US! And then they went on to win the Super Bowl. So they did something right, and they did it at exactly the time when they needed to. They put up the necessary pass rush (against arguably the greatest offense to ever be assembled) when they needed to. What does it matter if they don't have a great pass rush?

These threads are simply wound-licking, consolation threads, IMO. But, hey, if we want to create this fable of the "great team" that just couldn't get it done when it had to (the Cowboys) then indulge on. ;) :)

The difference between the Giants' pass rush and the Cowboys' passrush goes beyond 7 sacks.

The real factor is not the number of sacks the team produced but how it was spread out. Dallas only has 2 legitimate pass rush threats. The Giants have 4-5 legitimate pass rush threats. Much easier for teams to neutralize 1-2 players than 4-5 players.

Not only that, Giants D was consistently #1 throughout the year in terms of QB pressure, BUT turned up the heat in the post season, especially late in games. Other teams, including the Cowboys, petered out, notably in the second half.
