Giants-Pats most watched program of 2007
BY NEIL BEST
December 31, 2007
Saturday night's Patriots-Giants game was the most-watched show of the 2007-08 television season and the most-watched regular-season NFL game in 12 years, the league announced last night.
The game - available on four channels in some homes in New York and Boston - averaged 34.5 million viewers through the final gun on the various outlets, the most since a Chiefs-Cowboys game on Thanksgiving Day 1995 drew 35.7 million.
The total surpassed the 33.8 million for a CBS window Nov. 4 that featured the Patriots-Colts game. The four most-watched TV shows of the current season are NFL windows featuring Patriots games.
Saturday's game was the most-viewed program of any kind since the Academy Awards on Feb. 25 (40.2 million).
The game attracted 24 percent of households in New York, 40 percent of those with TVs in use. The numbers for Boston were staggering: 50.1 percent of all TVs and 75 percent of those in use.
