Former New York Giants linebacker Harry Carson was disgusted with what he saw of his former team against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, saying they looked like they lacked heart and competitive fire.
"When guys are whipping your ***, you don't get buddy buddy with guys at halftime," said Carson of seeing some Giants chatting with Panthers players on the way to the locker room. "When you're getting your *** kicked at home in front of your fans, you should be angry. . . . I don't see the same pride among many guys who are here right now that many of the older guys had."
After hearing those comments, current Giants linebacker Michael Boley shrugged it off.
"Doesn't mean anything to me," Boley said of Carson's harsh words. "These guys in this locker room, we play the game. Any kind of worries coming from outside falls on deaf ears."
But Carson's comments didn't fall on deaf ears with all of Boley's teammates. In fact, Giants cornerback Terrell Thomas said he thinks Carson is right.
"I definitely respect it and I definitely agree with it because we didn't play with any passion," Thomas said. "To have the playoffs on the line, to have Giants Stadium closing, we had too much momentum in this game not to win."
But while momentum is important in the NFL, the Giants lost all the momentum they had against the Panthers. And they lost any hope of making the playoffs as well.
