EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (Dec. 30, 2005) -- Tight end Jeremy Shockey and linebacker Reggie Torbor will sit out the New York Giants' game at Oakland on Dec. 31 because of injury.

Both players were hurt last week in a 35-20 loss at Washington. Shockey injured his ankle, and Torbor aggravated a hamstring injury. Neither practiced this week, and both had been listed as questionable as recently as Dec. 29.

Torbor's injury, as well as injuries to linebackers Antonio Pierce (high ankle sprain) and Carlos Emmons (strained right pectoral muscle), means that New York will be without its three starting linebackers who began the season.

New York would clinch its first NFC East title since 2000 with at least a tie.

giants are dropping like flies. how is tampa doing. we migh get in through the back door. stranger things have happened. can you imagine if oakland and new orleans do the unthinkable? giants are in so they might just relax a bit. tampa has simms so there's always the chance he'll revert to his college days as far as big games is concerned.

Oh, if the Giants lose.....I bet the urgency in the Washington locker room just about doubles.

the thought of a home playoff game after the results of the past two home games would be nuts.

Hey Wheat... congrats on the way the Skins are ending the season. They've played very well the last two weeks.

don't give me congrats......I didn't do anything. :)

Its still just football, and they could lose on sunday. Even though at least 1 more week of football from my team would be nice for a change.

Shockey, Torbor to miss Giants-Raiders game

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Tight end Jeremy Shockey and linebacker Reggie Torbor will sit out the New York Giants' game in Oakland on Saturday. Both players were injured in last week's 35-20 loss to Washington. Shockey suffered an ankle injury, and Torbor aggravated a hamstring injury. Neither practiced this week, and both had been listed as questionable as recently as Thursday. (Related item: Collins to face old mates)
Torbor's injury, as well as injuries to linebackers Antonio Pierce (high ankle sprain) and Carlos Emmons (strained right pectoral muscle), means that New York will be without all three starting linebackers who began the season.

New York can clinch its first NFC East title since 2000 with a win Saturday.

Shockey's injury might get Witten to the Pro Bowl. If Shockey decides not to play in the Pro Bowl because of his ankle, Witten will be going.

Collins is gonna shred the Giants D piece by piece. Wow they their D get dipleted fast at the end of the season. I wouldn't mind Bledsoe getting his shot at their D, LOL
