The giants do two things really well. They pressure the QB and they can pass the ball all over the field. What are our two biggest problems? Protecting the QB and defending the pass. All the more reason to upgrade the OL and secondary.

Or you figure out how to do the things well that win games - which is what the Giants do. Teams win games by rushing the passer well and having a really effective passing game. We are not good at rushing the passer. And our passing game is not quite elite because of our OL unable to protech. And honestly because our WRs/TEs just don't make as many plays as the Saints, Pats or Giants.

All I know is that we dont match up well at all with the Eagles. We have shown we can atleast play with the Giants.

We better get to fixing this thing before next season because if the Eagles play like they are capable, it will be a frustrating year.

finally you posted something i can agree with:

giants strengths:

real GM (good personnel)
good coaching

our weaknesses:

cartoon character for a GM (poor personnel)
inadequate coaching

I think we don't match up well with the egirls, g-girls and if the foreskins get a QB we could be in big trouble next season. Last place in the NFC is not out of the realm of possibility.
Ok. I have my fire proof suit on, flame away.

I don't disagree.

We need a solid FA overhaul, a no BS draft, and give last year's draftees time to grow.

I can see it happening if the Skins jump up and get RG3 or sign Manning. We could be in the basement of the NFC East.

Fixed..

The biggest strengths of the Giants happen to be the biggest weaknesses of the Cowboys. The Giants are a mentally tough team that's very resilient and have solid coaching. The Giants are able call on their past to give them confidence during struggling times. They know they've been beaten by teams during the season only to bounce back and beat those same teams in the playoffs.

All the Giants have to do is go back and look at the 07 season to give them encouragement. This Giants team is playing better than that 07 team they now have more weapons and Eli is playing at an elite level. Now the Giants are healthy and are playing some of the best football of any team in the playoffs. If they keep playing the way they are offensively and defensively they'll be holding up another Lombardi trophy in a few weeks.

the core of a football team, oline and dline, they haz it

we dont match up with any NFC east teams,we are lucky the skins dont have a good QB or we would be humiliated by being whitewashed by the NFC east.we need to do a triage and fix the o-line first and get another Cb opposite jenkins and replace Spencer in that order.

Agree totally except that the Spencer part in my opinion will be most difficult to achieve.

There are a couple decent OL on the market with Nicks by concensus vote getting the top grade of the group, and Rogers, Grimes, Finnegan, Carr etc.. @ DB is a little deeper, but OLBrs that can rush the passer usually have to be drafted, or by a pricey trade.

The reason why I want to retain Spencer is due to this,,, I would rather pay a little to keep an OLB that has secured the run on the strong side well.
I dont think anyone thats been paying attention can honestly without predjudice, that Spencer hasnt performed solid in that dept.

The problem is. is that Spencer is a lot like Spears in that they both are not as flashy as you would like them to be, and getting the pressure up field, what they do well at their respsective positions is anchor the strong side against the run.

Im not saying you ignore the position in the entire draft, just secure a proven stability, draft a need which will also be good value in DeCastro,,, did the very same thing last year with the Tyron Smith pick, just went hire than this current pick , but Tyron was a need but also probably topping the board. I would just keep trying to find value in the mid rounds like hopeful Carter in the 3rd last year.. yes he is MLB,, but their will be some nice mid-round prospects at OLB this year, their are just more pressing needs that could have a bigger influence quicker and be more effective.

DeCastro should be the same need/value situation, but the Combine hasnt even taken place and a lot can change, I understand that completely, so the names can change, but the philosophy should remain the same... hopefully.

The Giants offensive line isn't all-that.

They were last in the NFC in rushing. It's not even a good offensive line in my opinion.

The Giants also gave up more passing yards per game than the Dallas d.

There's not some big drastic difference between the two teams as much as some would like to portray that... for theatric reasons of course.

the big edge the Giants have on us is that they have at least three guys that the Offense has to account for in Tuck, JPP and Osi. We have ONE.

Yeah JPP definitely has to be accounted for.

Tuck and Osi?

Not so much. Especially Tuck, who's game has really fallen off the last couple of seasons.

they still cause trouble and so far the O has to account for them. But you are correct that Tuck seems to be fading.

Osi has been incredibly productive when healthy this year (basically a sack per game). Tuck had an offseason by his standards, but he had 11.5 sacks as recently as last year. Obviously you can't double all of them, but if you leave one unaccounted for, he'll make you pay.

Even if Tuck is fading, he's still better than anyone we have on the other side of Ware.....and that goes for Osi too. They still have more quality pass rushers, and if you want to find a definite difference between us and them, that would be it.
