Giants to interview McCarthy

He's a good fit for that team. I'm not sure he'd be a great fit in Dallas, though I do believe he's a good coach.

Giants, Panthers, and Browns are active **.

Cowboys are still conducting "exit interviews."

'Jerry Time'.

There's what happens in the real world and the actual NFL calendar, and then there's 'Jerry Time'.

Where free agency starts weeks later, where key players are leased months after everyone else does it, and now where coaches are hired and fired.

This team's calendars are broken and it starts at the top.

He’ll make Daniel Jones one of the better QBs in the league. Just watch.

I think, during the first week of free agency last season, he and his family (roughly half the FO) went on vacation.

Didn't he only want to coach for NY Jets last year?

Seems like if he wants to be in NY, he'll have a good pitch for Mara.

I think the last two years. That's part of what I was alluding to. They're arrogant enough to think the world revolves around them and that they can do what they want on their own time. Meanwhile, they continue to get lapped.

And ultimate control over his staff was the breaking point for why he didn't take the Jets job. Which makes me wonder why anyone would expect him to talk to Jones and the Cowboys?

Imagine liking your guys so much that you don't ever have any urgency to improve your team

It's sad to say, but Jones is currently in a 'can't lose' situation, and he acts like it. His team hasn't won a thing in 25 years, and yet he's still making money hand over fist and getting richer by the day. Name me another business where you could fail for 25 years and the money still pours in? That's why billionaires would walk over their own mothers to get in on this deal. Even when you lose, you still win.

Therefore, he continues to run a billion dollar company as his own 'Mom and Pop' store, giving family and friends jobs they've never earned and roles they can't perform. Even if it all fails, he still succeeds on the ledger.

Giants and Dallas are the best two jobs available by a mile.

I'd expect to see many of the same guys interviewing.

This does strike down my theory though which is that McCarthy was secretly hired to the Dallas job months ago.
Unless this announcement and scheduling of an interview was to push Jerry to make the move now and not at this weird leisurely pace.

McCarthy has won a SB and went to 4 NFCCGs and is considered a QB whisperer(Aaron Rodgers late career burned bridge aside).
He is in a class well above JG and Zimmer.

One of the football minds Jerry most respects is Ron Wolf. Wolf was GM when McCarty became the QB Coach in GB in 1999.
