Should probably go in the NFL zone but its something other than Pacman so I thought I'd post it on the main forum. Most of us assumed the NFL would take the better matchup of Dallas at NYG but guess they didn't want dallas at NY two years in a row in week one.

I hope they both lose. :laugh2:

The network/NFL just wanted to ensure a Giant win in their opening game. If the Giants were to play the Cowboys, you better believe our team would be pumped up and win the game.

The Super Bowl Champs better be wary of the "Maroon, Black, and Yellow."

I love that quote.

I look for the Commanders to possibly close out the regular season at Dallas in a nationally televised game, as we close Texas Stadium before heading to Arlington in '09.

I share that feeling. I also think since there is a good history of the teams playing on turkey day that is a possibility.

I do think we play the niners on turkey day though.

Commanders-GIANTS WILL START THE SEASON

Posted by Mike Florio on March 26, 2008, 6:33 p.m.
Continuing with a tradition that dates all the way back to 2004, the defending Super Bowl champions will host the Thursday night regular-season opener. For the first time, however, the champs will play a division rival.
According to Jason La Canfora of the Washington Post, the Commanders will visit the New York Giants to start the season.
The game typically begins at 8:30 p.m. EDT, but likely will be moved to 7:00 p.m. EDT to avoid a conflict with the final night of the Republican National Convention, which will feature the formal nomination acceptance speech from Senator John McCain.
It’s the second time that the ‘Skins and the Giants will be involved in the Thursday night opener. New York hosted the first such game in 2002, against the 49ers. The next year, the Commanders played the Jets.
Beginning in 2004, the Super Bowl champs got the home game to start the season. That year the Colts visited the Pats. The next season, the Raiders traveled to New England. In 2006, the Steelers hosted the Dolphins. Last year, the Saints visited Indianapolis.

I will be rooting for the Commanders to spoil the opening to their season. I couldn't care less about who played the Giants, unless it was the Eagles, I was rooting for whoever they played to beat them, and hopefully beat them soundly, in their opener.

Wish it could have been the Boys though.

At first I thought so also. But after a little while I changed. It makes more sense, and for ratings, to schedule 5 or 6 games into the eason, maybe even 10. If both teams live up the the expectations, and are winning, it's a bigger draw.

Very Very dissapointed we dont get to play this game.

I was sure we would and for me it killed two birds.

It gets us on the field ASAP in a game that means something and of course its a chance for revenge against the Giants. Tremendous opportunity to rain on thier parade.

I can only hope its something Jerry wanted and with good reason.

I was sitting in one of the worst ten seats in FedEx field when Frerotte knocked himself out of the game with his headbutt, Michael Westbrook took off his helmet after a big catch costing us 15 yards and taking us out of field goal range in overtime, and Jeff Hostetler admitted he didn't know the playbook because he didn't expect to play - all in a tie to the Giants that cost us the playoffs that year.

So what I'm saying is: keep hope alive.
