Giants unhappy with Shockey, Burress
Posted: Thursday May 31, 2007 07:39AM ET

The Giants held their third team workout of the spring yesterday, but they are still waiting for Jeremy Shockey and Plaxico Burress to participate in their first. Both arrived in New Jersey several weeks ago, played a few days of catch with quarterback Eli Manning and promised to stay for even more. But neither has participated in any of the first three days of organized team activities. Tom Coughlin is powerless to force them to attend, but he did not seem pleased with their absence.

Sorry, but now that our own guys are blowing off practices, these "let's start something" posts have no impact or meaning.

I bet they are. It is optional right? So why get so worked up if someone skips optional events. Sure it looks good and builds team unity and chemistry if you show up. But these guys are getting old and tired and beat up. Why start getting beat up early. Theres plenty left in July onwards. When these guys dont show up in September, then its time to freak out. Till then, business as usual.

Funny how that works isn't it?

Shockey reminds me of Brian Bosworth's little brother. All talk no substance.

Coughlin has lost these guys. He's a screamer. Those kind of guys are good as the get-back coach yelling at the players to stay off the field but as a head coach? Not working.
His sideline demeanor is ridiculous.

Because this one was on fire before your post.

"Irony" is not in Gryphon's vocab.
Has anyone even made a big deal about the Giants players missing? I just assumed they had because of the post in the other thread, but I can't find a thread other than this on the topic.

The difference in this and the Cowboys' situation is this statement by the writer.

I really don't see many posts in that thread criticizing them, other than silverbear -- and he doesn't count, because only rational posters count. :)

I don't think the thread was meant to reflect well on those guys, do you?

No, but people weren't really criticizing them. Hell, there was more people criticizing our players when they missed, than the Commanders or Giants combined.

I don't think your witch hunt ever really got off the ground here.
