Webb's release leaves the future of the quarterback position uncertain, and stakes the backup plan to Tanney.
Webb was a 2017 3rd round pick.

I watched Tanney in 2 PS games , and he looked pretty good.
Better than rush or white.

Tanney was with Cowboys, then KC, then Titans for 3 seasons I think, then giants got him.
Hope he gets a chance to play.
I was looking at him as the # 4 and would be cut , but they surprised me and cut the draft pick webb.
The was article read, after PS Tanney is the # 2 behind Eli, but not sure on that.

In the last PS game the only giant td was on a pass by Tanney.
Lauletta had the first half and most of 3rd and no td's.

Giants players said they didn’t want a qb because Webb was the successor. Such a corny franchise

The first few picks of the draft still puzzles me. The Browns could have had Barkley and either Mayfield or Darnold. With the 2nd overall pick the Giants don't take a QB? When's the next time the Giants going to have a draft position like that without trading up?

yeah many thought same thing, I guess they wanted their version of elliot more than the next qb.
It also depends on how many years left they think they have with manning.
I watched 1 ps game with mayfield and he looks pretty good. They may have messed up not grabbing him.

If Manning was 3-4 years younger skipping on a QB would of made sense. But IMO his arm is no longer the same it was a handful of years ago. I get they want one more push to the playoffs and beyond and Saquon was the surefire instant production guy. Just don't know if Eli has enough in him for them to be a contender.
IMO the defense will bounce back from last year but I don't know if they'll be elite like in 16 or just good.

You could be right. But right now we really don't know who will be the better QB between Mayfield and Darnold. Who knows, both could turn out pretty good. Besides, I thought the Giants were eyeing up Darnold if they were to pick a QB.

I agree with you, and especially in regards to Barkley. I don't think the Giants trusted any of the QBs. Barkley was a safe bet. Which brings me back to my original point, Cleveland should have taken Barkley first.

Spot on. Browns are idiots. They have a top five pick every year and usually draft the biggest bust.
If it were 1989 I’m certain they would’ve taken Mandarich at 1.
2011: 80% chance of getting a probowler in the top 12 and 100% chance of getting a probowler in the top 7. So what does Cleve do? Trade out at 6, a pick Ark uses on Julio Jones. Ouch.
2012: they take Trent Richardson at 3
2013: they take Bark Mingo at 6
2014: they take Justin Gilbert at 8
2015: Danny Shelton at 12 (I didn’t remember them ever drafting that low)
2016: they traded out of the 2 spot, which was used on Carson Wentz, (amidst Jalen Ramsey and Zeke Elliott) way down and took WR Corey Coleman, whom they pretty quickly traded to the Bills for a coveted 7th round draft pick. Coleman was such a gem that the Bills dumped him too after trading for him.

Seriously! How is it possible to be that consistently bad? Even in years when you seemingly can’t miss? They’d be better off firing their scouts and paying $8 for a subscription to fanspeak and go with whatever it or Kiper says. We haven’t missed on that many first round picks in 20 years and we don’t draft in the top 10 often.

It is surprisingly how often they get it wrong right at the top of the draft

Mayfield went before they picked.

You don't think Lauletta is in their plans?

good post, I didnt realize they were that bad, manziel should be in there somewhere/?? I know he was a 2nd pick, but in the rd 1. think they had
2 picks in rd 1.

The whole thing w/ Manziel was weird. They had the 4th pick in the draft and traded back to 8, taking Gilbert(CB). Then they traded back up to 22 to take Manziel.

So, instead of picks 4, 26, 29 they ended up w/ picks 8, 22, and 35. Really doesn't make any sense to me. And I think they lost some mid rounders, not sure though.

Same thing. Got a chance to get franchise QB - Get him.
Also the Eagles trade out of first round and Ravens getting their QB of the future.
